Actually we dropped to 3rd.
Almost a meaningless stat anyway as it was based completely on an insurance company question and was based on the percentage of owners of each particular car that said they had.
Number 2 is the Pontiac GTO so that means that to get to the 38% that have had a ticket only one of the three guys still driving one was caught.
Think how many Mustang owners would need to get a ticket to reach 38%!

This comment got me curious as to see which vehicles are the most ticketed. Big shocker for #1. I'd think it was a Camry or Civic!

1. Subaru WRX – 33.6%
2. Pontiac GTO – 32.7%
3. Scion FR-S – 32.6%
4. Toyota Supra – 30.8%
5. Subaru Tribeca – 29.7%
6. Volkswagen Rabbit – 29.6%
7. Mercury Topaz – 28.8%
8. Scion tC – 28.8%
9. Toyota FJ Cruiser – 28.4%
10. Mazda2 – 28.1%
11. Hyundai Veloster – 28.1%
12. Volkswagen GTI – 28.1%
13. Suzuki Reno – 28.1%
14. Scion xA – 27.8%
15. Pontiac G8 – 27.7%
16. MINI Cooper S Countryman – 27.5%
17. Mitsubishi 3000 GT – 27.4%
18. Saturn Aura – 27.1%
19. Infiniti QX56/QX80 – 27.1%
20. Toyota Prius C – 27.0%

So, besides OP, who else drives their car like Speed Racer? Dang, no wonder I get tailgated by CHP a lot!

I bought my RS1 in December. Since then, I've been pulled over three times in my home town (population about 7,000). All three times I got a verbal warning, and all three officers wanted to chat about the car. Even had a kid ask me if it was a Lamborghini one time. Small town life...

Like I said just above Pack's post these numbers are not of any value for anything. Taking the percentage of each different car ticketed and then comparing it to the rest is the most unscientific method I could conceive of.
Look at that list and consider how few there are of some of those cars. So what if 28% of the Topaz drivers got tickets that just means one of the 4 out there that still move managed to screw up. Show me a list of the percentage of tickets per vehicle but corrected for the number of that car registered and we will see what the list looks like.

OP here...

I didn't really think the ticketing stat was 100% valid, I just wanted to bitch about getting pulled over, but then thankfully having a good outcome.

Apparently those stats hit the media in a big way, every news outlet was reporting it like it was gospel. Here's an interesting perspective.

Nah didn't think you did but a load of others would.

Something tells me I would get along fine with the author of that article you just linked though.

From article - "However, these facts are almost useless because the list isn't based on percentages from the whole pool."

I like how many of those cars haven't been made in years. Hell, there's even a Saturn on the list. Doesn't even exist as a car company anymore!

I'm not sure I've even seen a Saturn Aura. I had to look it up.

The statistics above only prove that a large portion of people looking for new insurance are probably looking for cheaper rates because they have a ticket on their record.
