You all must not work in IT then.

I still see them. Granted, not as often though.

I've worked in IT for 6 years and have been playing around for 10. A barebones copy of XP sp2 or later does not BSOD. Its always some piece of software or someone who thought they where bill gates and tried installing thier own hardware.

I also prefer analog gauges, its trusted if it breaks its easy to replace. I bet if FT86 will have a digital gauge hope its an option only on higher spec.

From what I have read it sounds like it's going to be a 3D LCD display in which you WILL have to wear special 3D glasses. This is just what I have heard though, so don't quote me on it.

Been with windows 7 since August 2009. Never had a BSOD...or a crash as far as I can remember.

I don't trust the guys at Google for shit. Not that I do Microsoft either, but I think the kind of stuff google comes up with and then plays MS off as the evil corp is just.... sinister.

Used XP for like 9 years lol, 4.5 of which were when I was messing around with the computer.

All that said, why the hell do people want so many things to do while they're driving? Isn't the road and gauges enough to watch?
Been messing around with computers for 15 years, studied to be a systems engineer and worked in the IT field for 5 years so far A good portion of that time has been with XP pro. The only times I BSOD'd was with a Hardware issue, specifically RAM.

However, I do agree. I'm totally against all the useless shit that is being put into cars these days.. just why

I have no problems with a Digital Tach at all, I can't say I like it or hate it. The only digital tach I ever really used and seen was when I drove an s2000. And that digital tach has been around for ten or more years. But I do like the old analog tach like in my old Civic SI ep3.

But honestly Digital stuff is in everything these days, from super cars to econoboxes. I don't see how they would offer both, it looks more like an either or deal. The digital tach on the concept is one of the nicest I've seen, Toyota makes one of the nicest Digital tach, like in the LFA and ISF.

not too sure about Microsoft myself.

Exaggerate? not really . It gets even worse with time.

A fresh release shouldn't BSOD very often this early. Since 7 is still new I'd certainly hope it doesn't start out like Vista with problems galore. The biggest reason format w/ clean reinstall is popular for Windows is because it restores the system to a clean state.

I grew up with Mac, Windows, and the internets. I'm not an expert but I do enough troubleshooting for myself and sometimes others. I agree that making cars overcomplicated is simply wasteful. A GPS is really the only new thing I would consider important in a newer car. Improving the accuracy of "idiot" gauges should be more important than digitizing them .

Hopefully this will be an option so I know what not to choose! Slowly becoming a fan of MSFT... We have some Windows PC's that W7 and XP pc's here at work. Its funny to see some of the combatibility issues between XP and 7.

Toyota should have went after Polyphony for the digital display and Google for the Telematics.

The Lexus LF-A uses one big LCD:

They did so because they couldn't find a supplier of analog gauges that would rotate as quickly as the engine revved [unloaded], so they went with an LCD that could refresh quick enough for smooth video motion of the simulated needle.

Would anyone mind this in the FT-86?

LCD gauges is nice... but technically don't really need it for 180~220hp car. Old school gauge work perfectly
