I am waiting for a response too, but I think they're swamped with SEMA stuff right now.

The panels can be removed if you want to replace it.

The center transmission tunnel I am having them do in alcantara right now, and it was pretty reasonable in terms of price. Next I'd like my dash done...

I was thinking of replacing the perforated leather center section with Alcantara. I'd probably leave the grained leather there. Maybe do the bottom door pocket as well as the speaker panel in leather, too?

You can see here how it is on an Audi S4. This is what my S4 had, except I had the carbon fiber inlays instead of brushed aluminum. Off-topic, but I want to paint the "chrome" door handles with a satin metallic paint similar to the Audi's:

I actually asked them about doing just that and they said it wasn't possible.

Anything's possible. Why did they say it wasn't?

This was the email I received a while back and was specifically in reference to the perforated plastic piece:

We have spent a lot of time thinking about your FR-S project and the conclusion is that as of right now we do not have a way where we could do the door panel pieces satisfactorily and ensure that they would last after a reinstallation once they were wrapped.

That piece does not separate from the car. It would have to be cut out and bonded back into place.

Ah, ok. I'm sure it's do-able, the question is how they would adhere it and keep it there.

I think the problem they saw was that the door handle is connected to that piece, so it would have to withstand a fair amount of force to be viable.

Perhaps a bracket could be fabricated to reinforce the area...

It's not so much that, it's more of there's no real area to attach the fabric to and make it look clean. In other areas, they can at least tuck the material into another crevice and it'll look clean. They're definitely perfectionists, and if it doesn't look right, they won't do it.

That's not to say they won't sell you the material and you can attempt to do it yourself, but yeah....

I LOVE that ideas - but I understand why it's so difficult.

For now I would be happy just swapping the upper and arm rest faux leather sections with Alcantara and stitching. If I had more balls I would consider doing all these in red alcantara with black sticking (door pieces, speaker area, knee pad, shift and parking brake boots.

Is anyone attending SEMA? If so, do we have a SEMA pics thread started?
