Yeah mine happened when I was on a 2hr trip to another town for a job interview. It was a straight drive down a 2 lane road the whole time where I maintained a speed of 65-70 mph. I didn't make any stops along the way. I remember hearing running over it as I heard it hit under the car. Never thought I'd find what I seen haha.

Not a push rod, that's the handle for a big table vise. How it got separated from the vise I don't know.

Wow, I had the same thing (though nowhere near as bad as that vice handle!) first week I had the car. Pulled up at my in-laws to pick up my missus and got out of the car to wait (i.e. perve at the car). Looked down at the rear tyre and thought there was a stick or something similar wedged between the flap and the undercarriage, turned out to be a bit of a broken off steel umbrella component speared straight through the flap. So has it flown back from the front tyre or been picked up by the rear? Bloody thing was parallel with the road...

Besides making an annoying noise at and above 80 mph, it does serve an intended purpose! This is going to be a great thread.

From reading the thread it looks like four accounts of this rare case. I kind of want to check mine now because I was driving some back roads today and hit a lot of various bits of debris (lots of branches seemed to have fallen). A friend was riding with me and she seemed pretty concerned, but I trusted my baby. I checked around to see if the paint was chipped, but didn't look at the wheels.

In my old Miata, I kept hearing a clanging noise from the driver's side rear wheel. Looked at the tire and there was a piece of metal in the tread. Went to the tire shop and they found a 12" long flat blade screwdriver shaft with the handle gone. It had gone through the tread and the other end would hit the inside of the wheel at slow revolutions.

They had nev seen anything like it.

I dont have those flaps, so its safe to say if I run any of these items over it will destroy my paint! and probably fly up and hit the person driving behind me. These flaps seem like a good investment saving paint and windshields lol

Lol luckily for most of us we have a magical plastic force field in front of our tires to prevent becoming part of a horror movie
