70mph on 3rd is possible if you redline it.

Same here, I actually had it set to ~3.5k rpm since I was not used to how fast this thing reved (compared to a "lazy" 2.5). To this day, my shift points are still below 4k thanks to that 1000 mile break in. I do have my shift light set to ~6k now for the twisties

WTF Youtube? There are tons of other videos out there with Daft Punk's music embedded in them.

OK I redubbed the video with some generic sounding electronic music so hopefully it can be viewed now. If you have the TRON soundtrack you can always turn down the volume on the video and play that instead.

That was when my VTEC kicked in.

yeah I didn't tighten the mounting screw enough and when I sped up the wind pushed it down some. Too bad because the rest of the drive would have been great showing all the cars following behind me.

Hay, revisiting this topic

I recently went to T-Hill for a track day and have no issue pushing it close to 7k in 3rd. Here is my new thoughts about my a moment engine cut off:

1. Possible because of lower oxygen level and hi rpm, not enough air to burn in the tunnel?
2. Plus a down hill slope to push it even quicker?

Seems like #2 is a little bit more plausible than #1. Going down hill at the speed you were going may have caused your engine to spin higher than what the ecu considers safe (similar but opposite to engine braking where you use the engines compression to slow the car down) and trigger the fuel cut-off for "safety"/preservation.
