NorCal: Grip Drift Skid HPDE Track Day at Thunderhill

I'm signing up for a track day up at Thunderhill... has anyone run with this organization before? There's a pic of a Hot Lava FR-S in their banner so I am guessing someone must have...

http://www.gripdriftskid.com/index.html

They have a track day on Dec 23 ... I know it's kind of close to the holidays and a lot of people probably have travel plans etc... But I'm actually going to have the month off and my dad lives up near there so it's kind of perfect for me. So let me know if anyone else is interested in going up there, they will have both grip and drift, and full track and skidpad options! Seems like the perfect venue for learning to drive the FT86 on a track or learning to drift.

Dang, I would love to drive at Laguna Seca but their event is full.
But yeah in the future we should try and get a group together at one of these events! Seems to be a bit cheaper nowadays than when I last ran at an event a few years ago.

Definitely! I don't see many 86's out there. Even I haven't driven mine yet.

But yeah, we should get some members in attendance. I'm pretty involved in NCRC, and Trackmasters. I am also a member of Checkered Flag Racing Association (CFRA), which is an invite only group.

Nice, next time we meet up we should talk more about this. I used to do track events in my MR2 with TEAM, a Miata-centric group that ran great events, but they just stopped doing HPDE days. I haven't had a lot of time off the last few years but I've kind of freed up a bit now, so it's about time I get out there on the track again!

Call the number on the flyer and ask all the questions you have. That's what the contact info is there.

I've contacted the guy and asked the questions I had already... this thread is to gauge whether others here are interested in going as well, and to see if anyone had good or bad experiences running with this group. Not sure what's your point?

Sorry I misunderstood.

I've never run with that group but I don't see a reason not to. Thunder Hill is a legit facility and they aren't interested in people dieing so I doubt they rent to idiots.

If you're worried about it pick a group you're more comfortable with. There are plenty of other track days at Thunder Hill/Sears Point/Laguna Seca that you'll have tons and tons more opportunity for HPDE or drift events. You're not missing anything if you skip this one.

I'm not interested because I haven't gone through the brakes yet to get them track temp ready. Saving $$$ until next year but it'll be the first set of mods in 2013.

I'm also pretty certain I've seen that Miata in the flyer at a few local autoX.

Yeah I think they are legit, they seem to have run several of these events already and like you said THill is legit. Just wanted to make sure no one came up with some horror story of how these guys were fast and loose and all kinds of mayhem ensued.

OK well I registered and paid up for this ... going for the full track grip and trying to talk my friend into coming... even offered to let him borrow my MR-S to drive that on track.
