Tomei Exhaust with Tomei Straight Pipe

Hello everyone, first, belated Merry Christmas!! I hope we are all enjoying our frs/86/brz.
I am thinking about purchasing a Tomei 60S titanium catback exhaust, but recently they also released the titanium straight pipe. I believe the straight is catless, so my question is>>>>
will this setup cause any CEL?
I am more worried about the sound level. I had heard the 60s on youtube, and I thought it was acceptable sounding wise. I am just not sure how much louder would it be with the titanium straight pipe.....

If anyone had experienced this Tomei combo, please share.

Thank you again!!!

You shouldn't get any CEL's just from adding a catback + straight pipe/front pipe.

The straight (or test or mid) pipe will not throw a check engine light. There is another catalytic converter in the header. Removing that, however, will cause a CEL. I don't have the Tomei but I have the EVS single exit with test pipe, which is similar enough to compare. It's not subtle by any stretch but it's not obnoxious and I can easily hold a quiet conversation or listen to NPR.

Thank you!! Now I only have to worry about the sound =)
Hopefully vendors will share some installed clips later on since the straight pipe is pretty new still.
I have an automatic 86, and he is my weekend car, I don't race/track. Just looking for something louder than the stock and lose some weight!!!

I have the Tomei front pipe and the Tomei 60R combo, not the 60S like you asked for, but at cruising speeds the exhaust isn't really noticeable and the 60R doesn't have a muffler just a resonator. Now when you get accelerate hard or on cold starts it scream bloody murder.

I'd say purchase the exhaust first and see how tolerable you are to the sound then if you want it louder purchase the front pipe.

We have it installed on the 60R as well and like stated above it is very very loud on cold start up or WOT. Cruising speed has a nice rumble to it but not annoying either, and no droning. As for a CEL you are good to go, it won't throw any codes.

Thanks,
Kyle

Here is a video of the Tomei Titanium Midpipe with the Tomei Titanium 60R catback, this car has stock headers and stock overpipe as well. Hope this helps!
