OMFG. You nailed it. The "refresh" will be an FR-S/BRZ wagon or some sort of "shooting-brake".

You joke, but somebody just got on the phone with the dealer asking about trading his car just for that.

Aside from the carbon hood, I still feel like this is the best "sti" to ever be done. Add some sort of additional power/stripped weight and Brembo brakes, and I'd be all over it.

What's funny is Subaru literally has everything they need physically to actually make a BRZ sti. For whatever reason though, they seem to not want to.

There's various theories I'm sure as to why, but besides the guys at the top of the chain in Subaru, I doubt anybody else really knows.

Knowing the crap I'll take for it, here's a pic of the front end I'd like to have. Not quite like this, but close. Round, not some rejected Star Trek prop.

the good news is nearly all the parts are available and relatively cheap

They already make it. It's the BRZ tS, which is a car sold by STi. The parts can be bought (and I would know because I have them). The problem is it would be a hard sell outside Japan. You're looking at almost 40k USD for a car that has no additional power. Ppl are bitching and moaning as it is.

However this is what I've been trying to reiterate for a while. The BRZ tS IS the BRZ STi. It's already been released just not outside Japan

Not entirely ture. the tS axels are not for sale, the Recaro's are not for sale. (you can get Recaros that look like the tS recaros though).

I suspect they would sell given this thread.

"Shiny!" But it's just plastic. "Shiny!" You could roll your own, even better, for less! "Shiny! Gimme!" Whatever, sign here, here, here, here......

ETA: It will be very funny to read all the threads bitching about how overpriced the "refresh" is for how little you get. It never ends. I'm holding out for six grand worth of "quad zone climate control" in a car interior smaller than my bathtub.

ETA again: Going to go ahead and say that the first-gen FR-S/BRZ will be regarded as the best. In order to keep it "fresh" they are going to have to eff it up.

You can buy the axles actually. And technically the recaros are the same because regardless they are sportster cs. It's just the upholstering

Without brembo brakes and increased power/better drivetrain, I can't personally call it a real sti.

I love yours though. One of my favorite builds on the forum. I've thought about doing the same thing a few different times but throwing an HKS Superharger and Advan TCIIIs on it.

I would just much rather the car be available on the showroom stateside with all those sti parts already on it, rather than having to pay for them individually and all the shipping charges as well. It racks up quick.

That's understandable. I will say that the tS does have the brembo brakes so you can tick that one off 😝
