Steel Rims with OEM lugs
Good idea? Bad idea?
I ask because the shop I just went to said I should buy new lugs for my steelies because the OEM ones don't tighten enough. Not sure if they're just trying to pad the bill or if they actually had my interests at heart. Has anyone used the OEM lugs with steel rims on here?

The steel rim flange is much thinner than the hub on the aluminum wheels so the stock lugnuts will bottom out. You will need longer lugnuts, 35mm ones should be fine. |

Could you recommend some beater lug nuts that wont cost an arm and a leg? I hear open ended lug nuts (the ones I have currently for my winter set) are really bad for the lug studs and cause rust.

I reused my stock lug nuts on steel wheels and was totally fine last winter. I guess it might depend on the thickness of the steel like Slick said. YMMV.

Its almost always best to run after market lugs with the proper lug seat when running an optional wheel.

Also sorry for all the questions. I'm very noob when it comes to wheels and tires.
