9500ix.

The GPS lock-out is worth every penny. No need to turn the volume knob all the way down to drive past a strip mall like with the V1.

If I go a new place, I look forward to the third time I go there, because it locks out false alerts after 3 times.

I personally don't believe the arrows to be particularly useful, especially on the highway. What are you going to do, go in a different direction to avoid it? I've gotten hits from reflections off of big road signs and stuff like that. I've driven with a V1 and it's been "Well, cool, now I know which direction to look for the cop", but the rate at which it goes off around town is annoying.

If I was looking for exclusively a highly sensitive highway-only detector, I'd go for a Redline, but the 9500ix is effective when it needs to be, and unobtrusive otherwise.

I've noticed the 9500ix has really been competing with the v1. Would love to see a comparison.

Escort 8500 X50 in the FR-S, V1 in my father's M3.

I love both, but hate the low volume on the Escort... needs a louder speaker

I have a Escort Passport IQ (the one with GPS), which I bought about 8 months ago. That companies customer service is shit if you have a problem. You will literally have to email them multiple times / multiple calls just to get the run around. Then they will tell you "you left it in the sun or something" and the detector should be removed each time you stop your car........

Also good luck guessing if its actually working or not. The IQ supposedly has the same technology as the 9500, but I have dashcam video of a CHP going by me on the highway as I was daydream cruising in the right lane, his radar was updating as he went by, radar detector appeared to be running (green bar scrolling) but didn't make a peep. About 30 seconds later he flips through the median and pulls over a car in oncoming traffic. I pull out my iphone to take more video to coincide with the radar detector, power cycle the IQ, and it starts reading his radar .........

I'm sure other people's work (or they think they are working), but if you go by one of those mobile radar speed notification "SLOW DOWN" systems and it doesn't peep even 1:10 times then to me that equates to possible tickets.

I know, I know, I know don't speed, but hey racecar.

I like em both, but prefer the V1 since its louder... and it's perfect when driving with the top down.

Both have saved my ass numerous times though...

I've never had to deal with Escort... but with that, I think I may stay away from escort... The V1 broke a few years ago, called Valentine, they said ship it to us with a $10 dollar check, they sent it back working perfectly and sent the $10 back as well... and the damn thing is now 10 years old and working like a champ.

I stand by my V1 still. Set it on logic mode in the city and it's not to bad but I don't really use it for city driving. Once I hit the interstate it's all bogeys though and it helps a lot when I know the 2 cops I just passed aren't the only ones because there is another one still ahead of me.

I have a V1. I've found that it's mostly usefully for highway driving. Even with turning off X band, you still get lots of falses in bigger cities. For highway driving (roadtrips) or backroads, it's great though. Has saved me quite a few times with cops running C/O.

I'm using V1E to program custom sweeps. Makes it much more accurate and fast on the pickup
