Front License Plate Solution?

So here in the state of Illinois it is required to have license plates at the front and rear end of the car. This is obviously a nice looking car and I don't wanna drill holes in it when I get it (I'm sure there are others out there that agree). My idea is to get this retractable one:

Not quite sure this is the most legal or aesthetically pleasing way. Anyone have any other solutions?

placing a licence plate in your dashboard is bad juju. Essentially you have put a flying guillotine in your car that activates at even the smallest of accidents. Iv seen some bad injuries from license plates on dashboards.

There are some bracket solutions for people who have to run a front license plate. Many laws do not say anything about the angle in which it is viewed. So If your clever enough you can use a license plate angle for aerodynamic aid.

Simple solution,

Break your license plate then put it under your seat. get pulled over for no plate: "but officer, its broken, see?"

And get tasered by the officer as you are reaching under your seat.

You guys ONLY require front in UT? Or do you mean you require front in addition to rear?

The factory mounts should drill holes in the potion of bumper that is parallel to the ground, a place where you would not see them unless you were on the ground looking up. The problem seems to be the oil change monkeys in the dealership shop don't know what they are doing and don't follow the instructions for mounting and just drill into the front of the bumper.

I suggest you ask the dealer not to mount the front plate and to give you the bracket so you can check how to properly mount it without damaging your brand new car.

I wouldn't use the one in the picture above unless you mount it in the middle of the bumper. That is just asking to lose your plate on a speed bumper or driveway, or even a bad pothole if you are slammed.

I saw this happen at a Nissan Dealer with a row of brand new 350z. A friend of mine pointed it out to me, then to the manager, he scurried off. I didn't get it at the time. Suddenly we heard screaming and yelling in the back.

License plate mounting is serious business!
