List of companies building cars in the US and the percentage of their global output that is in the US.

Toyota builds 61% of all its global production in the US. Since this is 2016, Scion is listed separately.

True if talking about some knock off third party items but not even remotely close if built by any large international company. Where I work has 250 plants in over 40 countries and each and every one of them has to meet the same standards. Quality, safety, process, management systems, etc are all identical so a part made in the US and one made in China, India, Mexico or Lower Slobovia are all exactly the same. This applies to all major manufacturers for the last 20 years or so. The whole "it is better if made in the USA" thing is an old school thought and more propaganda than reality for many, many years now.

Chinese made stuff is shit. they'll say that their quality is the same etc but everyone I know that tried buying cheaper Chinese parts were sorry they did. hell my OE replacement motorcycle fairings on my VFR didn't fit at all. I had to drill the holes bigger to fit bolts through and the ones that wouldn't line up got zip ties.

Made in the USA might not mean top quality but Made in China certainly means garbage.

that being said and Lodi Old Vine Zin from Cali is the GOAT and that's the bottom line.

See that is just it. People buy the cheap shit and think that represents all of the products. It doesn't. If buying the real thing it will be exactly the same and cost just as much. Sort of the difference between Made in China and manufactured in China by a company that is not Chinese. Two radically different product value streams. There is not some mysterious force in the air that prevents good products from coming out of China any more than there is one that creates great products in the USA. It is all in the systems applied.

Since we've gone there, what is everybody's favorite time to pray and what's your worst sin?

Depends.
I find prayers are most effective when chanted at midnight and my worst sin is almost impossible to determine since they are all pretty bad (or good depending on perspective).

And many many many components that are in expensive assemblies no matter where they are assembled and marked as “made in...”

well of course he's going to say that. he's got Volvos to sell. what's he going to say, "yeah maybe they have a point."?

I'd like to see some data first. who builds cars in China? maybe they can focus on quality more since they sure as hell don't worry about pollution.

Again you are talking about a different section of industry in China. The big companies follow the same environmental rules they do elsewhere. Our plants in China have to meet our standards or the local Government ones whichever are higher. Even at that the local standards in China have improved massively in the last few years.
You are still using the lower tier industries as your comparison and although there are of course still many crap companies there that make crap under crap conditions (the textile industry and anyplace making stuff for the Dollar store chains for example) all of the big manufacturers have controls in place.
