Ethanol doesn't really effect the engine oil temperature at all. It affects the combustion chamber temperatures by lowering them and allowing more ignition timing advance without detonation. Thats where the 30whp gain comes from. The flex-fuel kit and corresponding tune makes running ethanol much more convenient and safe.

Some photos from our 86 Day drive at the Tail of the Dragon.

It's been a while since I've made it up there but it was totally worth the day spent driving.

Pre-production part and literally the first one made; not worried about it with Grimmspeed gaskets.

FWIW I have a similar small imperfection on my JDL header flange. It adds character to a hand-welded piece.
On my first Factory Five Roadster, I had a lot of trouble with one of the header flanges not being perfectly true and it didn't want to seal for very long against a head, and exhaust leaks developed. I tried "everything". I eventually found out about Remflex gaskets. I think they started as a father & son operation, good people. The gaskets are made of very thin slices of graphite, sandwiched together. They are thicker than regular gaskets (which was good for my problem) and they compress when installed. Supposedly they maintain some spring and that helps them keep bolts tight as well. The material they're made of withstands very high heat. Bottom line, I never had another exhaust leak. The cool thing is you can send them a gasket for a custom application and they will do a drawing and make it for you. And I don't think they charged much at all to do it custom - it ends up in their catalog. I ended up having header to sidepipe gaskets custom made, as they were notorious for blowing out.

So, if you do have trouble down the road, check these out:

+1 on the Remflex gaskets. That's all I have on my BRZ because all of the other gaskets on the market pretty much suck for 2 bolt flanges.

I couldn't find the post on your feedback on the GS strut tower bar. Any thoughts? (Sorry if I missed them!)

Gridlife South at Road Atlanta was a huge success!

I met a bunch of cool 86 drivers from Houston and really enjoyed the festival atmosphere along with the full-course drifting and time attack cars running around my home track at the ragged edge.

Hot lap from Gridlife.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO2gz3PPaVU"]Subaru BRZ at Road Atlanta with Gridlife South 2016 - YouTube[/ame]

Car ran great despite the 120F surface temps and cranked out a 1:47.6 which isn't what I wanted but it inspired me to finally start pulling weight out of the interior soon.

looked good out there man. we were actually in the same group. I think I gave you a point by on the back strait. was wondering how you cruised past me so easily haha. I need to get a tune asap to squeeze out some more ponies.

wish the track wasn't so hot either. I melted my tires actually and spun coming out of 3.
