HID wiring management - What to do?
Working on getting my HID kit installed. I've got the ballasts mounted to the frame bars right below the headlights and that seems to be a great position. I'm wondering what everybody else does with the wiring between the ballasts and the OEM connector and the HID bulb.
In my particular kit, which I think is pretty standard, there is a large plastic box inline with the wiring between the ballast and the actual HID bulb (ignitor?). Right now I just zip tied all these wires to each other as much as possible to keep them from being all over the place. I'm planning on getting some type of conduit to stuff them into, such as the mesh type that is used in a few places OEM. Beyond that I guess I'll just then zip tie the conduit to anything stable that I can find nearby. I'm trying to minimize the chance of the wiring (and those plastic boxes) flopping around and making noise. Any ideas? What has everybody else done with the wiring? |

Zip-ties and heat shrink tubing are the way to go IMO. Fold/coil your wires up and wrap with the heat shrink tubing, then secure them out of the way with your zip-ties.

Is there a good retail source that sells large tubing, like if I want to include the plastic box inside the tubing?

I've never seen any that'd be large enough to fit the resistor inside. Most any auto parts store has a variety of colors and sizes available though. Visit one and see what they have is where I'd start.
