Overspray all over. Detail or re-paint?
back story
Two co-workers of mine spray painted a tool rack at my job this past thrusday/friday. They set up a huge industrial fan blowing out of the shop and into the parking lot, where my car was parked..... I didnt notice it was overspray till i washed what i thought was my dust-covered car on Saturday. I would say roughly 50-75% of the car is covered in a yellow dusting of spray paint. Fortunately, my company will cover the cost of repairs but left me with the task of finding out how to repair it..... Question Can a certified master detailer get rid of the over spray, or would the car have to be repainted? any experience with overspray being professionally removed by a detailer/ paint shop around rancho cucamonga or city of industry would be greatly appreciated! here's some pics of what i'm dealing with... roof got hit the worst it feels like sandpaper the culprit

What he said! And if that doesn't do all of it, a polish should work. Polish + 2 coats sealant should keep it safe

A clay bar will take all of that overspray off, especially if your car was waxed. Try a clay bar before trying polish.
I would throw the clay bar away when you're done. Remember to use lots of lube. If a clay bar doesn't work, try a more aggressive clay bar that's labeled for severe paint contamination.

Or before you clay, you can also try just straight carnuba wax. The Carnuba in the wax and natural oils usually are enough to remove spray paint and the likes from the clear coat. If that doesn't work then you can move on to clay or if needed a compound. But more than likely the wax will remove the overspray.

Thanks @JM9ISM @jarednoel @housecat and @Drakiv for replies and for the conformation on the clay bar being able to remove the overspray.
The owner of the company i work for told me to take my car to a local detailer he uses personally. I figured if he trusts them with his Ferrari they couldn't screw up my cars paint that badly... and they didnt! Paint looks better than ever. Side note, the owner of the detail shop says they usually charges $300 for the service, but due to the weather (overcast and somewhat drizzle-ee) most people assume their business is closed, so they only charged my company $200. so i guess if anyone needs their car detailed, wait for a rainy day special. @BRGT86 Hahaha looking at the pictures it definitely does. If the overspray was even all over, maybe i would of kept it

Wow $300 is what they usually charge? Your company got a deal at $200 which is awesome. Just curious, had this come out of pocket would you have tried this removal yourself? I'm glad it all worked out for ya OP. I've been down this road before and accidentally done this to my own car in the past. Clay bar did not work for me and I had to move on to polishing with a paint shop grade scratch remover which did the trick!
