If you can get a decent number of people together we might be willing to do a group buy on them.

I'm having a hard time trying to figure how this can works at all and maybe a simple diagram would answer these questions. If PCV valves are operated by vacuum, how does the can have any vacuum if it has a vented top w/filter? Does this engine really run 2 PVC valves? Never heard of that before.
OR is the PCV valve forced open by crankcase pressure and then the vacuum sucks the vapor out? If this is the case, then the two hoses going into the can just allow vapor to be forced in when the valve vents the crankcase pressure and then the stinky oil vapor vents out under the hood through the filter and it smells like a 55 Chevy. Am I anywhere close to being correct? |

The block breathes from 2 different places, this can allows them both to breathe on their own without having to use the engine intake to pull it out, allowing cleaner air into your engine. It also catches any oil that will come out.

So really this catch can is basically doing the same thing as post #14 stated above, without a hose running down towards the ground except it has a baffle to keep liquid oil from running out that hose and it vents the vapor out the top filter.

It allows the engine to evacuate internal pressure on its own without using the intake stream to do it. It also catches any oil which might come out of those lines which is required by many racing venues to prevent oil downs/wrecks. It allows the engine to suck fresh air, it also allows internal engine breathing on a turbocharged application as when you have boost in the intake manifold the one way check valve off the block does not allow any air to flow, thus backing the engine up at the point of the most blow by. It also adds some bling bling to your engine bay

After reading this thread I'll throw in my .02, I have a 680hp drag civic and a catch can is an absolute must for a high hp turbo motor for a number of reasons. You think $300 is expensive? T1 Race Development sells a catch can setup for Honda/Acura that's $575, and its the best money can buy, even the knock off versions of his setup are around $375. I think this setup looks quality and is priced well based on the level of craftsmanship and bolt in functionality
