obdii port wont work
Everytime I plug a scan tool to my OBDII PORT I get no signal at all! im concerned either the port itself is bad or the ecu. The dealer reads my ecu just fine and doesnt think there is an issue. But all my friends with frs/brz can plug in to theirs and get readings. I keep getting cel codes but cannot read it unless the dealer scans it. This is very frustrating. And I will be making formal complaint to Toyota about this issue with my OBDII port or ecu. Theres obviously some kind of power issue somewhere.

I know I respond to you in our regional thread about this but because it is becoming more common I'll post it here as well. This is a common issue these cars are having it is not the ecu it is the plug. The dealer had to replace mine when they flashed the ecu to solve the idle dip problem. Thier scanner worked but then they tested the resistance between the pins on the plug they got bad readings. They simply replace the plug it only took a few minutes and they normally have them in stock. They didn't even tell me it was replaced until they were all done working on the car.

The connector pins on this OBD2 connector are very flimsy. I used the OBD2 MX BT adapter and it stretched out the pins. So when I went to reflash the ECU the port would half work. So, I ordered replacement pins and a different OBD2 connector and re wired it. The stock connector is only sold as a harness and is $800.
So if you are using the stock port be very careful and if you used the obd2 mx it will ruin your port if you take it in and out a few times.

Digikey
Here are the part numbers: WM6653-ND QTY 2 WM3343-ND QTY 2 QTY 20 WM3324CT-ND (ONLY 7 PINS REQUIRED) You will also need the crimp tool. In terms of DIY take a picture of factory connector and pins, start cutting one by one and crimp one wire at a time and insert into new connect. When done insert wire holder clip and test.

They re-pinned mine with parts they had on hand so they didn't put it on the invoice for me but I wish they would have encase something happens I was under the impression they replaced it until I called and found out different. I really hate how these dealerships take liberties with my car.
