You tuned the WOT load cells so that they have the proper AFR and timing. When you aren't WOT it just uses the standard NA load AFR and timing.

This is the reason that the system actually works without a tune as well.
What if you're at high RPM but not WOT? What is the threshold to crossover to open loop?

Good question actually. Our tunner was extremely impressed because there was NO delay in ECU adjusting even though the load table changes instantly when the electric motor kicks on.

The unit does take a small amount of time to "spin up" to its max RPM and that was always enough for the ECU to adjust everything as requested.

Also remember that with this unit the boost is very small up top(in comparison) so the transition is very smooth. IF you hit this down low (2000rpm) you go from no boost to about 5psi instantly and it still gets the fuelling right(with tune).

For those that where interested here is a 3rd gear log of my car at 3500ft above sea level on a 26(C) degree day running the TQ300.

My tune(TQ300) needs some work.....hoping @shiv@vishnu can help with that!

Had to zip the file.

Actually from the log i can see that it goes from 0psi to 5psi in 600ms!!! lol

I'm actually asking when the transition actually happens, since driving in open loop without needing the power is pretty easy to do on this car (accidentally), and not good for fuel consumption.

Oh okay ya. Sorry I don't know the answer to that. I track all my fillups on fuelly and I didnt really see a change.

What do you normally see MPG wise?

Staying out of open loop is HUGE... it's the difference between guys here who get 20's vs 30's on the highway. You can learn to avoid it, but you can also tune to make an open loop state less likely.

Oh im pretty sure im in closed then.

Average consumption is 26.5mpg

Going WOT all the time does increase the consumption however.... that and dyno sessions haha.

Here is my fuelly data..... I took a road trip in June 2013 and installed the TQ250 in August.... the blips up in fuel consumption is usually dyno sessions.

For the Americans

7L/100km = 33mpg
8L/100km = 29mpg
9L/100km = 26mpg
10L/100km = 23mpg

The threshold is the throttle switch.

In theory you could drive right to redline without ever engaging the ESC...if you wanted to. As long as you don't push beyond the throttle switch you'll be on the "non-boosted" map. You could easily drive at very high rpm in 3rd or 4th gear without going into boost. You could drive in 6th at 100 mph and not even be close to the engagement point.

I regularly cruise on the highway at 70 mph and get low to mid 30 mpg...if I don't get into boost very often. Even so, I've driven with a heavy foot at 75-80 mph and still got mid-20's.

I'm pretty sure I've followed every page of this, but something I haven't figured out is, for a kit that isn't yet for sale, how do so many people seem to have it? Maybe it just appears that way.

I think there are 6 or 7 of us beta testing the unit .
