Competitor enforced. If you competed in class racing you'd probably know that you come to know your competition as well as your own car...at least enough to know where to look to see what mods have been done to get better times.

Also, most of these examples apply to Stock/Street classes.

I got an email that my letter requesting SP Classing will be published in the next (January) FastTrack. Hoping it goes as planned...

What did you propose? I sent in a letter a few months ago proposing DSP and just got an email a couple days ago about it being published in the Fastrack on the 20th.

I also said DSP. I think it would fit well with the BMWs.

Also, E85 and 285 Hoosiers sounds like a whole lot of fun.

I'm still confused about the allowance for camber adjustments w/ crash bolts and "designed tolerances", or however they worded it. It seems like they are fine with allowing modifications that are unfriendly to a daily driver, while preventing adjustable top hats. Is there something more to the new street class beyond the "race on Sunday, drive to work on Monday" mentality the solo board was initially talking about? Easily adjustable suspension parts are more costly up front but they make the vehicle more reasonable as a daily driver.

What modifications are you referring to? The only allowable change beyond the settings the OE suspension geometry is capable of is utilizing a service approved modification which installs a 2mm smaller OD bolt in the upper bolt hole of the clevis on the strut, this happens to be the same bolt that is on the lower clevis hole. This may get you an extra degree, degree and a quarter max. Not sure what is unfriendly about that to a daily driver.

Those parts are specified in factory service manuals as ways to get non-compliant cars back into manufacturer compliance, so there isn't really a good way to police it because someone may HAVE to use them on their car. While I would love top hats, there are a lot of cars out there which can't use them and they are expensive.

I wish you could get a degree out of the crash bolts, maybe .75 at the most from what I've seen.
