Yeah, I know that area (I went to SJSU).

It's definitely sketchy in most neighborhood streets around there. I just thought campus got fairly quiet at night. Used to sometimes take a walk around 11pm or 12am, sometimes with girls, around campus, and never felt particularly unsafe.

I've heard there are more issues now though, especially with that big encampment being shut down. Can't comment from experience since it's been several years now.

I live about a mile away in a quieter neighborhood, but it's still quite shady at times. Wish I'd feel safe walking around like I did when I was in NY last year.

I can scrounge up plenty of work, I'm sure. I just don't feel very inclined to do so when I've essentially been told, "you're out of here in a couple of months."

That brings to mind a story of the second time I went down thatta way. This time they had a bridge from Paradise Island to Nassau.

I was heavy into photography, so I strapped on my photography gear, rented a moped type scooter and headed across the bridge into Nassau.

I was looking to get some pictures of the real locals in their natural habitat. I found an area that looked primitive and was clicking away at the natives when these four young native men started chasing me. I decided a retrograde operation was in order.

I figured if they caught me, they would pound the piss out of me, steal my camera equipment and rented moped. So, I took off at top speed, down this narrow street ...... with them right on my rear fender.

In the heat of the moment, I forgot that I was supposed to be driving on the OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. After a couple of near head on collisions, I realized that and made it back to a main street and lost those good ol boys.

Yep, I raced back over the bridge, turned that scooter in and stuck to the tourist spots for the rest of the vacation.

THE END

Great series, my wife loves it too.. One caveat, the weather is never that consistent!!!

As for other box sets you guys must watch (if you don't mind subtitles) are:

Black Widow - set in Holland, all about drug cartels etc.. A real rollercoaster.

13 Commandments- set in Belgium, cop series, gritty..

Thicker than water - set in Sweden, family drama, slow but lovely.

Well, that's too bad......

NOW is the time to refresh your resume, get it out there and start interviewing. Being still employed gives you somewhat of a better negotiating stance with a prospective employer.

I wish you well ......

I have been looking. I might have a good opportunity lined up. I interviewed at a division of Toyota (my dad works for TEMA) before I got this job. The guy I spoke to said I was a very close number 2 for that job, and that he had even argued for me to get it, but they went with the more experienced person. The job they have open now, he's basically said the goal this time around is to hire me.
