What would you do?

Hello everyone. Before you read this topic I want it to be clear that I am in no way trying to harm the dealership's or Subaru's reputation. I love my car and I just really miss it. I also just want some feedback. So, I have had my brz for about half a year now. A few weeks ago I noticed that my brz had the check engine light on. I decided to take my car into the dealership to get it fixed. The only real issues that I noticed were the usual crickets and a slight vibration coming from the engine on cold starts. My car has now been at the dealership for two and a half weeks. The dealership at first called me a few days after I took it in and told me that the car needed it's valves adjusted. I really didn't get too much information about it and just patiently waited for them to fix it. About a week later they called me and told me that the car will be ready tomorrow. They said all they have to do is keep it overnight and make sure it doesn't repeat the same problem. They call me again the next day to tell me that the check engine light came back on and they are talking to subaru to try and find another solution. The dealership also told me that they will call me and tell me what the new solution will be. This was last week. I haven't heard back from the dealership since then. I call the dealership almost everyday to try and get an update on my car, but every time I call my service advisor is unavailable. So here are my questions. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a common problem? Should I be worried? Any Advice? Thank you.

Doesn't sound common, but we don't know what the problem is really.

Warranty or no? Do you have a car to drive in the mean time?

Shoot me a PM with your contact info and what store you're working with. I'd like to make sure we get this taken care of for you ASAP. I'll let your local district manager know that your car has been down for that long and I'll see what we can do for you.

manually adjustable valves..... welcome to half a century ago. Make sure they throw in a hand crank handle for when the starter goes bad and you need to manually start the engine.

Dealer had mine for nearly 2 months last year for a warranty service

Started off as an oil leak on the timing cover, but they also found one of the cam carriers needed replaced. Longest wait was for parts. But they gave me a fully loaded Legacy while they had my car and were easy to work with.

GF's Jeep went in 4 times for the same problem, it's not about the problem itself, it's about how they handle it and they looked after her very well.

It doesn't sound like they are looking after you very well and that's almost more of an issue than the problem itself. I'd stop calling and go in to speak to someone directly.

Stop calling and show up there in person. Much harder to ignore you that way.

The dealership is about 15 miles from where I live. I'll just stay patient with everything and hope for the best.

No offense intended, why ask for advice if you're not going to take it? Doing nothing and hoping for the best basically isn't working now, so why continue with that plan?

My dealership is a 46 mile round trip, I'd be camping on their doorstep every day until I got an answer at this point if it were me....

Especially if he's really big.
