seems some folks have forgotten what their mama told them about if they can't say anything nice... looks to me that @Since1967 wants his car his way, and if he likes the result then more power to him would I do it to mine? probably not to the same extent. does it offend me what he did to his own car? why the hell should it! @Since1967, enjoy your car!

As I said, fixed some stuff so the above complaints should be gone. I like the way it turned out. I am not too worked up on the comments here. Very few of us keep our cars stock and I dislike most mods people do so I would expect some people don't like what I did. The whole reason we come to this site or go to meets is we want to see what other people are doing to their cars and want to discuss it, hence me sharing what I did. So people can share their displeasure if they want as long as I get my turn to discuss why they lower their cars so much they can't clear speed bumps, or why someone keeps their car locked away for the winter as it is a Picasso painting lol. (All in good fun there).

What brand/model of material did you use for that?
The alcantara looks ok, but the small imperfections would drive me nuts.
What are you going to do about the silver buttons or silver steering wheel trim?
How did you get to the trim next to the hvac controls? Did you need to pull the whole center console? easy to do?

That's another question I had actually; how easy is it to remove the HVAC side trim pieces, the door pulls, and the round vent trims? Those are the parts I want to replace but not sure how difficult they are to get off.

FYI you can order a black button set (traction control and VSC Sport buttons) and black steering wheel trim on FT86speedfactory, if you so desire. The steering wheel trim is easy to just remove and paint or plasti-dip, but the buttons will be difficult as they have the graphic that is clear so the light shines through to illuminate the buttons at night.

It's not too bad. Start buy unscrewing the shifter then pull the trim up. After that remove the 2 screws below the shifter and the 2 on the rear of the center console under where the cup holder sits. Next you need to remove the storage bin and USB connector from under the head controls. You can push it out from behind with a little force. Next remove the 4 screws holding the trim pieces on. After removing the screws should pull right out.

thats a lot of bright paint against drab plastic... I think the interior looks nice with the faux carbon fiber and black buttons, makes it more classy.

One helpful hint to add to this is to push out the USB connector from behind, there are plastic trim pieces in the foot well that just pull straight off. After you take those off you can fit your fingers behind the USB jack to push it out.

The whole centre console/ shifter/ armrest needs to come out before pulling the knee pads, because the knee pads/hvac trim pulls out straight towards the rear of the car. The knee pads and hvac trim are screwed together so they have to come out together. This job sounds big, but it's easy. It's a little harder for the brz with the push start I think, since there isn't as much to hold onto when you pull that piece out.
