I'm not above saying that this is a bit over my head I think, I missed where Driver01 said the purge valve is "under the intake runner," lol. I'm not sure yet how I get there (take off intake manifold or try to get at it from under car after taking splashguard off?), so I'm going to hold off until I get some guidance. I could be totally missing something, but I don't see a way to reach under that area on Driver01's photo.
Called John and left a message, am going to create a ticket and hang tight for now. Last edited by vubaru; 06-09-2013 at 03:06 PM. |

The purge valve is mounted on the rear driver side of the intake manifold. You will find a 10 or 12 mm head bolt that attaches it to the back of the intake manifold. It is not very easy to access with the manifold installed as it actually sits underneath the manifold and the vacuum lines that go to it attach to the bottom of the manifold.

I think all you have to do is reach under and unplug the sensor. I think you can do that without removing the manifold.

Edit: Just spoke with JV, apparently this can be done without jacking up the engine or taking the intake manifold off and it's a lot easier than I'm making it, although the plumbing for my turbo kit may affect the accessibility of vacuum lines. I'm going to give it a shot after work today and take some photos. Last edited by vubaru; 06-10-2013 at 03:42 PM. |

OK, I think I figured this thing out, kinda. JV filled me in and gave me a diagram of the EBCS plumbing for the vacuum lines. You will need to buy extra vacuum lines as part of this install. Here are some photos.
The first is an overview of the engine for orientation purposes. The second is found directly underneath the intake runner closest to the driver. You have to really put your head down in there to see it. As you can see, under that intake runner there will be a light blue connector which you will disconnect from another wiring connector and hook that blue connector to the wiring port on the EBCS, which you will likely have to mount. Then, you have to run your vacuum lines per John's diagram. I'm a novice so I don't know if I'm up to that part. |
