As per usual though, who who when it will be available here and at what price...

ps: perhaps move to new thread?
Hey all, I managed to get an english link to the page Vladror was talking about. This is definitely a unit I'd consider buying :-) Thanks Vladror...

And no, replacing the radio/headunit shouldn't void any warranty as far as I know

here's a link to a first look at that unit by endgadget: http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/04/p...inment-system/

i like the fact that it has 3 USB connectors + iPod connector, i wonder though how to make them accessible on the dashboard without having a bunch of cable dangling from somewhere

I doesn't seem like that would be possible, at best you could probably tie/stick/attach the extensions where they would be out of sight

so i contacted the local supplier and he told me this:

" Incidentally, I installed one in my own car yesterday, and I am really impressed. It comes packed with features and has an email client and web browser etc. the Nav works really well and the HD screen is fantastic.

The product has not been launched by Parrot yet, but from what Parrot told me, it will be towards mid to end October. We will only be able to start ordering from November, so we should have it here locally by end Nov, but that will also depend on the strikes and related effects on the ports, as we sea freight these in.

Regarding the price, it is difficult due to Rand taking a hammering at the moment, but it will probably retail in the region of R7K, but this is unconfirmed.

What I can say is that this is by far the best 2Din unit I have ever seen. "

Had an older parrot hu with USB on the back. I ran the cable into my glovebox (for iPod). Could run them anywhere you like e.g. centre console.

I'll probably be fine with just the single USB port that's currently in the dash but if the need ever arose, I'd possible consider _drilling_ some very discrete holes at the back of this small console area. It would be impossible to see so that's a plus. I'm not really keen on drilling into my car but this would be almost undetectable.

I'm not a fan of drilling, I'd probably order a new part and then drill that rather. Same difference but I'd feel better about it.

Else you could just route the cable into the cubby.

that spot it pretty useless for anything else anyway, the one time i put my phone in there it went flying at the first sign of acceleration
4 USB is prob a bit much, but 1 for a USB with music/media, 1 to connect/charge a phone and one to connect a 3G modem. surely i'll find a use eventually for the 4th one ...

There was a thread somewhere explaining how to use the existing USB port. It involves some hacking but is probably worth it.

Maybe we can do a group buy and get some discount? This stock radio is annoying the daylight (running lights) out of me.

Btw
Here is 2/3 of what you need to do a plug n play install. The other 1/3 is the Lexus antenna adapter.
