Question about custom tuning and tuning

I've got a few questions for tuners out there.

Is it true that torque can be tuned? For example, tuning the car so that it pisses gas at low RPMS to increase torque?

I'm looking to buy a header. I can't find any UEL headers for sale in my area so I'm resorted to looking at EL headers.

The twins are notorious for the low end torque and power and apparently UEL headers help with that a lot. I hear EL headers help peak powers more than low end torque. (I want low-end torque/hp)

So, is it true that I could buy an EL header and get a custom tune so my low-end torque is higher and maybe sacrifice peak power?

Not rearly, the torque dip is a lot to do with the valve timing and the header design.

tuner adjust parameters to get the best resultsxthey can but its also a lot to do with the header

you can buy a gruppe s uel header pretty cheap and they are good quality

and their are plenty of oft the shelf tunes for those headers

if you want the best of both el and uel headers then your going to need to spend up on an ACE header and a custom tune probably cost you about tripple the price

you could buy the dearer tomei version or maybe the openflash 2 header

www.openflashtablet.com

you can buy the header alone or the header and tune device\tunes included for about $1000

http://www.openflashtablet.com/shop/oftofh2-combo/

then you can flash your own tunes for petrol 91\93 and e85

Yes you can change your tune to change the power curve...
I just put on a P & L long tube header no cat and had to change my cam and fuel maps...
I have an auto and need to maintain low end torque....

My car runs great with the EL long tube, better than I thought and I can add the cat for better torque but I don't think I need it...

But you can get a header from FT86 speed factory...... They have online sales........
and their header sounds great.......

I don't think anyone has done a side buy side test of headers yet....

“Tuning” doesn’t work that way…

A scientifically & mechanically correct performance calibration won’t leave very much room to “move” power around. If your ignition timing is ideal (MBT), and AFR’s are optimum (LBT) throughout the rev range, then you’re making as much power as safely possible throughout the rev range. Just throwing more fuel at an engine won’t increase power, in most cases you’ll actually lose a lot of power. Pump gas has a very narrow and unforgiving “sweet spot” meaning: LBT may be 12.3:1 to 12.6:1 – anything richer or leaner will lose power.

Alcohols are a lot more forgiving and easier to tune in this respect. You can have liquid methanol coming out of your exhaust before power drops off from being too rich (but you won’t make more power from being that rich).
