Hey guys:
I got the sales order/purchase order that shows my name/address and etc. it says "reserved for Subaru BRZ/first in line (as they do not have allocation)/ sold for MSRP/client left 500 refundable deposit".

I called them on 4/14 to ask if they were willing to do MSRP as the previous dealership says 2500 mark up. They were willing to do MSRP on the phone.

I went into the dealership and The sales person got the approval from the manager at the time; HOWEVER the sales order was never signed by the manager/sales person. Mostly because the person of the inexperience of the sales person and I guess me also (how the hell was I suppose to know that it needed to be signed- first time ordering a car 2 months in advance).

I mean if they had the courtesy to tell me that the sales person made a mistake earlier I would of been fine and ordered it at another dealership. HOWEVER it was until 1.5 months of waiting and drooling over the car that I finally received a phone call that the first BRZ arrived that they told me they have bad news and there's a 2000 mark up.

Common sense and professionalism would tell them of they do not agree w the sales contract, AT LEAST give me f***ing advance notice so that I could order it else where.

I'm just really really disappointed.

I will call SoA Monday but regardless I wouldn't go back there to purchase anything.

Wow, that's BS.

Though a purchase order isn't the same as a signed sales contract, because it has your name on it, says $500 deposit, and says sold for MSRP, I would hope that SOA bitch-slaps them big time.

Can you scan in the document (with your name and address blocked out) and post it here for posterity?

This is the first case I know of where a dealer tried to mark it up even though a person got it in writing that it was ordered specifically for him/her at MSRP. It's bad enough when dealers say one thing and do something else, but to go back on something in writing (even if it's just a purchase order and not a signed sales contract) is especially outrageous.

Anyway, keep up posted with whatever you find out and good luck.

Yes, call SoA asap and tell them the situation and that you have proof. I'm sure they'll set the dealer straight. Keep us posted!

Threaten legal action. They did this shit intentionally since they backed you into a corner by misleading you for 2 months. I bet they fold instantly at even the slightest mention of a lawyer.

You can read this case for reference, very similar.

There's not a chance in hell I will pay anything over MSRP. If they even *try* that, I'll make sure everyone here knows about it and take my business elsewhere -- most likely a Porsche dealership for a new Cayman.

When I pre-ordered my BRZ, I was told by Jay at Fairfield Subaru AND his manager that they "never" charge more than MSRP.

I will hold them to it.

Please add Southern States Subaru in Raleigh, NC to your blacklist. They are charging a $3,000 market adjustment.

Guys, did they tell you MSRP and then try to charge you markup after? If not, they aren't subject to being blacklisted.

Just because they're marking up the car and adding accessories to it doesn't mean it warrants going on the blacklist. It's for dealers that promise MSRP but then mark up the price at a later time.

I think it stands on it's own for this area due to the fact that Johnson Subaru has 7/7 preorders filled and not a single person has put down on either of the BRZ that Southern states Subaru is getting in.

It does. And maybe they'll realize that what they're doing is hurting their business and lower the price to what it should be at to compete with the older dealers.

Well, to be honest Southern States in Raleigh, NC is the closest dealership to me, less than 3 miles away, but they simply refused to make pre-orders because marking it up was their ultimate intention so they refused to work with me. I then went to Johnson Subaru in Cary and placed my order. The management at Southern States simply sucks for BRZ potential customers! Even if I have to wait an extra day or even a week to have my car serviced elsewhere I'll do it... I fully detest that dealership and would love to see it lose the Subaru brand. Alas, it'll never happen... So I hope they lose out with receiving only 2-3 BRZs this year... Suckers!
