Because any engine produced in the last 30 years should last 200k mi stock or you're getting ripped off.

Okay, after reading (most) of this thread, serious question. Has anyone dropped a F2xC engine into a FRS/BRZ? It would be interesting to see how this platform would respond with the Honda engine. Of course, the cost involved would probably make more sense just to buy a decent used AP1...

I believe I saw an FR-S with an SR20DET swap already, and obviously LSX AND 2Jz swaps, but no F2xc swaps yet...

Well, I've seen a few different swaps already on these but no F2xC swaps and considering everyone seems to be singing the praises of the S2000/F2xC engines I figured it would be interesting to see what a F2xC series engine would do in the FRS/BRZ platform.

Personally I agree with all the acclaim of the S2000 and F2xC series engines (full disclosure I did own a 2004 S2000) but I never understood why Honda went through all that trouble to engineer such a great vehicle and engine but made it a roadster only and didn't offer a coupe version? Kind of like finding a beautiful woman and then finding out she's a nun.

I'm willing to bet someone out there has at least thought of it, kind of surprised I haven't seen one pop up yet on this forum.

.
It was inspired by Honda's racing heritage.... Think open top F1 and Indy cars. That's why they made it a roadster.

Which I understand but for the "average" person who wants to buy a production vehicle and "track" it, it seems like a coupe version would have made more sense considering the people who buy these cars aren't competing in F1 and Indy. So I guess my point is that they built a great platform but limited it to a certain degree by not offering a hard top version. As someone previously mentioned, some venues won't let you run a convertible.

Or really it's just a modern S500/600/800, but at least they also made some of those as a coupe. The F1 and Indy is just marketing.

It's both. "Inspired by" doesn't mean OMG DIS IS THE SAME TING AS AN F1 CARZ.... It means inspired by, and it clearly is... Open top, twitchy fast steering and handling, f1 level piston speeds (at the time), a digital tach designed directly after Senna's McLaren... It is what it is whether you think it's only gimmicky marketing or not...
