Simple body kit problem and it isn’t about fitment

Ok a bit of background, I purchased a simple body kit for the facelift 86 mid last year and when it arrived the company sent the wrong kit (to fit the older 86)

Sent that back and found out that apparently the body kit (just the lip as the side skirts fit) that I purchased was out of stock for months (but their website advertised as available for months even after having this discussion with them) so I had to wait “8-12weeks” for the lip to be made and sent here. After the 8-12 weeks it was on a ship from japan to Aus. 3 months It was on that ship :/
So now here I am 6 months later with my front lip annnnnndddd it was sent as raw/unpainted. The company only advertise the kit in black or carbonfiber (order black)

I’m thinking of painting it myself but what do you all think should I send it back and get them to paint it or what ever.
I just don’t want to wait another 3 or more weeks
Will be talking to them tomorrow about this.

It doesn't sound like they are obligated to paint it and it often isn't painted when you buy it.

You can ask em, but shouldn't be mad if they say no since they probably would/will say no.

If you want to wait another 6 months then do it but if you don't, just paint it yourself

You could look at this as life saying " here's a learning opportunity for you!" and try to paint it yourself. The worst that happens is that it comes out like shit and you send it off to get painted by a body shop, right? Paint materials aren't expensive. It'll be easy if you have an air compressor already and get an HVLP gun.

I painted and installed my lip and skirts. I used spray cans. It just takes prep, patience, persistance, and an outside temp of 65° f or higher.

Bought everything I needed, Including real scion d6s paint in a spray can, from: www.automotivetouchup.com.

I ordered:
Mask
sticky rag
prep solvent
sand paper assorted pack
adheasion promoter
primer (X2)
D6S Argento paint (order 2 cans of the paint code you need)
clear coat (X2)

Cans are great, especially for smaller parts; like a lip & skirts. I wouldn't suggest a hood as a beginner project.

Tips: Fill an icechest with 6" of hot tap water. Between coats, set the cans in the cooler. The heat will add pressure inside the can compensating for the loss in pressure from using the contents of the can. Watch youtube videos on how to get a good paint job from a spray can.

I just took this (1 min ago ) to show how good the paint matches. The garnishes were off a WRB BRZ. I painted and cleared them with spray cans.

via Imgflip Meme Generator

Ripped the lip off in a gravel parking 1 week after install. Still rockin the skirts 2 years later...

This is the single greatest thing. I do this with all spraypaint jobs, and it never fails. Granted, I just fill my sink tub with hot water and put a bowl on the can caps to hold them in. This is the biggest protip for spraypainting ever.

i have no problem painting it myself, it just sucks that after 6 months they still couldn't get my order right. right now they are saying that they will not paint it or even pay someone here to paint it for me.

but ive learnt alot about ordering stuff online now. make sure the company has it in stock despite the website saying they do.

they did say no they dont paint it or wont offer to pay someone here to paint it for me. the thing is the rest of the body kit is the one black colour and the website only offers black or carbonfiber
so for them to send a raw white/unpainted (you can see fiberglass under it) is not what they offer/describe.

tbh im not mad im actually excited cause i can paint it and learn to paint fiberglass it just sucks as ive waited 6 months for the front lip alone.

I would actually leave them a negative feedback if possible. You essentially paid for a black lip (since you said their site only offers black or CF options for it). It's one thing to ship out the incorrect lip, shipping mistakes happen, I get it. But then to ship you out something that wasn't what you ordered, and for them to have no remorse in doing so is a big "nope" in my book. That's just terrible customer service and business ethics.

exactly ive waited 6 months for the front lip alone, i believe they wont do anything cause the price to ship it here is so expensive they dont want to fork out another shipping cost hence why they wont do anything to help now

definetly not buying from them again

They could have at least said they'd help with the painting costs. If you don't mind sharing, would you please PM where you ordered from? That way I can make sure to avoid them if I'm ordering anything for either of my cars.
