legally.. probably intake replace engine component for lighter stuff like pully or maybe TBS (minor performance)

or straight to turbocharging xD than you'll probably need support mods like engine mounts and bushings if aiming for over 300hp (frs stock engine components are infamously known for not taking anything without wearing very quickly over 300hp).

for looks. body kit to suit your style +_+ or just splitter, canard and wing/winglet/spoiler for aero.

or suspension for lower ride and better handling if you're spirited driver (also aero but mainly for looks.)

suggest you go for handling/suspension if you do much fun drives and don't mind power.

suggest power if you're into drag races (since it lacks power it's true 200hp isn't much).

If you are into drag racing um wrong car. Best mod ever get rid of the cheap tires. Assuming 16s still have Prius tires.

As far as suspension, it's mostly looks. I don't see how much better this car could perform in stiffer lower suspension. This car is perfect for its weight and power.

Your "fun to drive" statement completely clashes with the "mods to recommend" question.

What do you find missing from this fun car you drive?
What did you eat for lunch?
Do you need help picking out what to wear every day?

We all do things differently. Mod to your own tastes or to fill a deficiency...

Still here! This forum is great! So much useful information from owners who know their stuff, ill drive the car for awhile, it already has a K&N drop in filter, headers and a tune sounds pretty sweet actually!

I came from an suv so like this type of car is totally new to me, Im 20 btw and have only had two cars. Its way more fun to drive but ill drive it for awhile to really see what I want, little more low end torque would be nice.

Perfect, then gruppe S uels and an openflash tablet and tune would fit your bill perfectly

Good to see you hung around.

Yes, we CAN get into some intense conversations, from time to time.

If your car has a manual transmission (and maybe with an auto transmission), you can somewhat "get around" that lack of low end torque feeling, by keeping the RPMs up. Like shift around 5,000 rpms .... these little engines like that.

Oh yes, keep back from the parking stops. Your SUV always told you when to stop, when the wheel hit the parking stop. With the FR-S, it will tell you also, by the blood curdling, scrunching sound, that is made as the front clip grinds into the concrete stop......guess what wins ......

Now, I suggest you get hold of a owners manual and read the whole thing.

Learn how to drive it well, that is the best bang for the buck you can get. It's a fantastic car.

Congrats. I enjoy seeing people post their newly acquired 86. It reminds me of when I picked mine up and the joy I get from driving it.

Can't wait to see the plans you have for the 86.

I wanted to get new tailights that look to be about $320, my budget is really only $1000. Would just going with the OpenFlash Tune work without new headers and make any difference?

I gotcha, but ya totally know that sound from being in other peoples low cars, just heart stopping.

Well I went to the dealer today and they wanted $70 dollars for a new manual and I laughed right out the door.

A previous guy in here posted a link I need to check out, and Im sure theres ways to get it online.

Thanks for the congrats everyone, means alot. Glad to see this car has a big community, I live in Houston and cant wait to check out all the local 86s and see what their owners have done to them.

If anyone is in the Houston area and has infos on big car meets etc, would be down to know.

For local car meets, check out the Facebook houston group or the regional forums. Theres meets in Austin and San Antonio all the time... but that's a ways to drive for you haha.
