Leaking water pump

When doing my header swap and bolting the aluminum skid plate back on, I noticed a bit of dried coolant on the block. I traced it up a few inches and it is coming from the water pump weep hole behind the pulley.

It was not wet, but it was dried/scaled coolant. At one point in time it was leaking, or it is currently leaking so slowly that the coolant is getting baked off the block before it actually drips down onto the ground.

I have 2K miles on the car and just noticed it. I would have never noticed it if I had not removed the skid plate and happened to glance at the waterpump.

If anyone else happens to have their skidplate off installing a header or doing anything else, take a quick look and see if your waterpump has the same coolant residue.

Do yourself a favor and check the header flanges with a straight edge to make sure they are not warped. I was chasing a leak for a while and it turned out my borla header flange was warped

Lots of wasted time under the car replacing gaskets and getting those skidplates on/off

Yeah but its almost not worth it to ship in your old header and get a new one and deal with waiting etc. I just knocked the high areas off with my mill and called it a day. Still think I have a leak somewhere, with my luck its a weld on the manifold and it needs to get sent back anyways.

And that's why I don't have any big brand products.

In the defense of Borla, customer service is shipping me a new header once I email him my invoice from ft86speed factory.

Very good customer service.

Back on topic, I am very interested to see if anyone else has this coolant scale/gunk on their car. I will get a picture of mine when I reinstall my header

I thought I had this problem but it was actually that when the tech's replaced my fuelpump they didn't put the cap back on all the way.

Nothing as bad as a bit of flange that isn't quite right

You'd be surprised how quickly a good company can take care of a problem. They might overnight or next day the package, especially if you insist.

I have same story - dried/scaled coolant after 1.8k miles!!!!!
it comes from weep hole...

It's been fine since I noticed it, and that was around 13k miles ago. So hopefully it was nothing
