Right now I have a Perrin 2.5 Resonated, Catted Front Pipe, Overpipe, and a JDL Catted UEL header. It's the perfect sound level IMO. Loud when you want it to be, no rasp, and you can still cruise quietly on the highway in the 6th gear without drone

Sorry I haven't kept up to date on front pipes, so I can't say which one is the best. I'd try calling FT86 Speed Factory to see what they got.

I have the 3" non resonated. Picked it up few months ago... It sounded just a hair louder than OEM borla option exhaust. Now with the turbo it sounds lovely. Very quiet. I love it.

It doesn't sound like your typical subi which is what I love about it.

Just some questions that are coming across my mind:
1. It is well known that the perrin resonated is one of the quieter exhausts compared to all others, but can the same be said for the non-resonated version? (Saw a thread and the non-res actually had the highest max db)

2. I want the deep rumble of the resonated exhaust, but the volume of the non-resonated exhaust. However, since I have not heard them in rl, youtube videos shows hints of rasp during cold starts & high revs for the non-resonated. If actual owners can chime in on this, it would be great.

3. Is the resonated catback itself loud enough to make you stand out when driving around everyday normal cars?

My plan is strictly cat-back only with no plans of headers/overpipe in the future.
If you plan on doing just catback try listening to the Corsa exhaust that definitely has a deep and noticeable rumble Also, it has a zero drone just like the Perrin. You honestly can't go wrong with Perrin or Corsa.

Perrin is having an exhaust sale right now! Jump on it!

Perrin 2.5" resonated may be the overall best exhaust for our cars! No joke!

I have a full Perrin exhaust (2.5' OP 2.5' FP and 3' Resonated CB) w/ a tomei header. It can get loud. Just a heads up.

I have a favor to ask. Would any perrin catback owners like to come out today or plan to in future meets (in or around the bay area) so that I can get a good listen to the exhaust before I pull the trigger. I would really appreciate the help/heads up if you guys will be somewhere!

Thanks

I have the 2.5" resonated on my car if you want to hear it. The rest of the exhaust is stock. Located in Berkeley.

In a couple of weeks, you can hear how it sounds with a catted JDL UEL header.

Sorry not to necro this thread but do you know if any (tomei) UEL + perrin 2.5 resonated CBE will meet 90db requirements?

The 2.5 resonated is louder than you may think. Everyone says it's not that loud but to me it's pretty loud and perfect. I love mine (2.5 resonated) without the resonated in the Bay Area like I see you are you risk attracting police attention.

When I got mine I was surprised at the volume with resonated. Go 2.5 and go resonated you won't be disappointed. Also if you don't want the hassle of trying to adjust it perfectly (c clamps can move a bit if not tightened down enough) Neal @The Racers Line (great 86 shop) did a killer job installing it fast and adjusting it perfectly for me.

Well I ordered the resonated catback system also and it was delivered yesterday. I was planning on going with a catted front pipe as well. Is the Berk HFC pipe decent quality? Any advantage with the ceramic coating?
