Anybody here getting that greasy "$27k" feeling?
The more I read about this car, the more I get the impression that I'll be down at my local Toyota dealership on one of their oddball $19 oil coupons (I can't even do it myself for that cheap) and see the FR-S in the lot for $27,899, with one of those dopey "Dealer Market Adjustment" stickers on it for $29,999.
I'm getting that greasy "gonna get shafted" feeling. I guess I'm a little down-in-the-dumps considering the weak economy, my own abysmal financial picture, and the difficulty of facing another year of grad school before I get the M.A. |

Can't do that. Scion has fair pricing. No dealer markup. |

Considering that $28k buys you a well equipped Cooper S, GTI, or Miata, and those cars are all likely to be cross-shopped, it's not too far off-base. The snag is the FR-S is touting minimalism and likely won't have a lush interior or feature-laden. As such, if Scion prices it at $25k, it'll be much easier to move.
You have to remember that $30k is the new $20k, and the USD doesn't buy nearly as much as it used to. Sad but true.

You are forgetting the V6 Mustang and GC 2.0T that will be cross shopped. If this car is more than $23-25k for the base it will be a failure. Look at price for MS3, WRX, GC 2.0T...etc. |

From that recent interview with them alluding to no CD player/Nav, it sounds like you'll be able to get a pretty striped down car. I also have to think that with Subaru looking to go with a real all-performance WRX hatch possibly now, with figures in the 26-29k price range, this car may need to hit 23-25k.

I hope this isn't true! I want it to start around the same price as a Genesis Base, $21k-23k!

Hopefully it doesn't price past 23, I mean I'm thinking it's gonna compete with the Civic and 2.0 Genesis...anything more than 25 I'd rather get a used 370z...and paying towards the 30 mark for a Scion just makes me cringe...

Toyota has in the pass priced a model lower than the competition and gradually raised the price as the model gets accepted. The RAV4 is an example, introduced at $12K.
