Thats really wierd. Trying to accel from too high a gear really drops it if you do that. Otherwise try a vishnu reset to get it back to 1.0 (4th gear at around 20% throttle on an upslope if possible).

If it does see what causes it to drop down. If it doesnt the idk

Set Warning's on the oft monitoring for flkc over +/- 1 while you're at it

I didn't see adv multiplier or flkc move at all while driving in. Then again I didn't even get above like 16% throttle.

Here's a pic from when I got to work:

Idk man. I cant imagine that acting up without somethong else happening. I would guess its down on power at least. I would say hit up the tuning threads and ask on of the knowledgeable folks cuz that is really bad. Even when my car ran with some nasty knock I hit no lower then .6 and it really should be above .9 for DD normally

Ugh, this sucks! I will have to post over in the software tuning section and see what they say.

Run a log on your way home. Im sure they will want to see it. Maybe get a good 3rd gear pull in there also in a seperate log. But not sure if you want to with the adv mult that low

Yeah, riddle me this, why are you asking us and not the guys in the software tuning forum haha.

maybe do the logging first while it is still exhibiting the low ADV but a few more ideas...

1) reset/reflash and see if it goes back up to 1.0 (it should). Then drive some more and see if it drops again or if it was a fluke

2) add some octane booster to your tank and repeat the logging and reset/reflash. If it was bad gas the booster should help get the octane back to acceptable levels and reduce the knock, if there is in fact actual knock. Partial throttle tip-in driving sometimes produces knock-like effects that fool the knock sensor into thinking you're knocking.

3) double check the OTS tune you are using. Consider trying an older version, or a newer version if yours is out of date.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions.

Good to know that re-flashing will immediately get it back up to 1.0

Regarding version of the tune, it is an older version from 2014 but according to the release notes of the revisions, nothing is being changed in the newer tunes except for compatibility with newer model ROMs.

So... its about time for me to say farewell to my trusty BRZ and get a larger car (in an ideal world, I'd keep it, but realistically, I can only afford having 1 car). Mostly looking for good driving dynamics but can also do daily daddy duty.

Looking at new and used WRX's and STI's right now, maybe even a Focus RS if the mark-up isn't ridiculous. Anything else I should be considering? I do tend to gravitate towards japanese cars since I have the most experience working on them but I'd be interested in stepping out of my comfort zone. Something german perhaps? USDM? Looking at a CTS-V wagon this weekend, since I've never owned an american v8.

Also, part out or sell car as is? may be go back to stock and keep parts to eventually buy a used 86 someday to reinstall? trade-in or private sale?

Hmmmmm.....

How has this car not hit my radar? The V60 is lookin mighty sexy (in a dad-bod kind of way). Too bad its Auto only, although maybe that's a good thing for daily.
