Thread resurrection wow! So now you must have 15k+ miles on this system still feel same way and no real issues?

I frequent the FI section daily/nightly to narrow my choice for this year. Aside from some small install glitches folks had on their own and some reported header flanges not being 100% you never hear people complain about the reliability, drive ability of this kit and that speaks a fairly positive message.

I like the "looks" of many top front mounted kits but that seems to take work in dealing with the heat. While the Avo is the least "in your face" kit it seems hard for one to avoid the obvious which seems to be lack of operational issues really.

Please take a moment and update is when can again after what you consider another mileage milestone with your continued thoughts on this kit, thanks!!

Holy resurrection Batman!

... over a year later and 20k miles later, still running strong?

Disclaimer : I won't know for sure until OP comes in and I check stuff and flash over the latest ROM I have for him...

Regards!

Couldn't agree more with this post.
I think there are as many trouble-free AVO TC kits out there as any. Most issues seem related to poor installation. My decision put function and reliability over looks. My car runs amazingly, and stays cool with the stock cooling system as I run my car hard from 0 to 6000 feet. I would like to see the temp gauge on an 86 with a front mounted turbo on stock cooling system running the same route.

I have about 10k miles on the kit (that's a lot of driving for me!) , it had been a year since install. Everything is running well, meeting up with Bob next week to do a follow up check.

Driving consists of daily highway and city. Haven't had time to track it. Cooling and transmission does not appear to be a problem

Happy to do rides, but my schedule is very busy, so I don't have a lot of free time.

Only thing I recommend is a radar/lidar detector, I've gotten stopped a lot :-P

Took the BRZ in for routine maintenance at @Drift-Office and @AVOturboworld. All good news! I have 11k miles on kit so far and about 14 months with mine installed. There were some interesting finds, which I'll let Paul or Bob discuss.

The maintenance included checking fluids and basic inspection. Overall, there are some small issues that are maintenance related, but the AVO turbo and Drift Office tune are working well!

There are some future plans for this BRZ which will be very exciting, but can't discuss yet.

This is water and oil from my AVO breather tank from the last 8k miles. It looks bad, but it's doing its job keeping water and oil out of the engine.

Whoa. I was horrified to see that pic. Our previous car was a Nissan 200SX 2L turbo. (don't think you had it in the USA). It did 200,000Km without burning "any" oil or getting water into the oil (the oil level did not drop after long trips). The original turbo was going fine, plugs lasted 85,000Km and fuel consumption was the same.
How do you think it managed without a breather tank? If I thought it was doing what yours does I would have fitted one pronto.

Really enjoying your story too.
