My dealer told me the same thing. Total garbage.

Sometimes you hit the lock switch by accident.

Spent about an hour in the garage of the Toyota dealership with the lead tech looking into this issue and a few others like the cell phone on the passenger seat.
He had his laptop hooked up and it was good to see the actual PID data being passed to the ecu and being seen by the software. He reset the memory that was stored for the switch. We had the blinking auto lights and had to do the ten second reprogram on them.

Still have the issue of course. Got my hopes up. They tried to tell me at first that's how it's supposed to work. I told them if it does not work like I expect and how the other two switches do in the car then it's broken.

They are going to order me another switch. I am going to ask for the old one as I want to take it apart and look at the switch.

Just an FYI, any parts removed as a warranty replacement CAN'T be given back to the guest because Toyota has the option of recalling it from the dealer (usually to do exactly what you had in mind). If the dealer doesn't have the part to return, than they won't get reimbursed for any of the warranty repair. But hey, your dealer may be stoopid enough to do it anyways...

I'm just about to go in for oil, etc. and might mention this. But it sounds as though I shouldn't get my hopes up yet in getting this resolved.

Cell phone on the passenger seat??? There's nothing you can do about that. The seats are not pressure sensitive, they are now running a small electrical current. Anything that conducts electricity ie. the human body or anything electronic will trip the sensor.

So according to the news there is now a huge recall on Toyota vehicles for power window switches. Is this a Subaru or Toyota switch? Just wondering if it's related.

I have had this issue with my passenger window since I bought BRZ in June. I thought maybe it has been happening less frequently but I think I am just using window less now that it is getting colder!

I found out this morning that cold weather, frost and frameless windows = problem. I think the window was slightly frozen (by frost), maybe to the rubber seal which caused the auto scroll feature of the window to stop. Closing the door, the window did not go back up. The switch lights were also blinking and the window auto up/down did not work. Only after I rolled the window all the way down and back up did it behave properly again.

I hope this does not keep happening.
