at almost 6k miles now. about 3 months of owning. i heard a squeak for the first time today. i've heard it before in older cars / convertibles, but never in a car this new.

coming out of a parking lot at an angle at around 1-2mph, a squeak from the rear that sounded like the chassis flexing or something. i don't think it's the rear deck popping noise, sounded different from what that could be. it sounded like it would come from an old crown vic taxi cab, but i'm pretty sad i heard it on this car. has anyone else experienced this yet?

I have a new one for you that i haven't seen from you guys yet... unfortunately. I have a squeak coming from the engine area when I shift to another gear and hit the gas initially. Now i know what you may be thinking, that it's just the infamous chirping, but its not. Its only when i hit the gas pedal. It does it initially then goes away but it sounds like an old jalopy taking of.. like a belt rubbing wrong or some kind of clutch squeak. Someone had mentioned a pilot bearing but I have no idea i'm not a mechanic. Will be taking it in soon but just wondering if anyone in the world could share my pain.. Because i feel like i'm the only one... oooooof course..

I'm experiencing this as well, it's driving me crazy. Seems to happen around 60 - 70 mph on rougher textured roads. Silent on smooth asphalt. Has anyone figured this out yet?

So i've noticed that the little plastic cover for the center console clock/where the emergency flasher button goes creaks fairly often. I noticed while driving pushing against that and holding it seem to make the rattle go away. That or pulling on the side of the center console surround right next to that seems to stop the rattling. Not sure how to fix that sometimes drives me crazy

I have traded cars because of rattles and I don't want to trade my Frs. I have been searching the net to see how many other owners have this problem and if so what they did to fix it, but no luck so far.
So you've seen the common rear trunk rattle fix I'm guessing by bending that tab? thats pretty common has definitely helped some of the rattle.

I noticed that the wire for the 3rd brake light I believe kind of floats against the roof of the trunk. It's in a a plastic loom and when there are bumps it hits against parts of the roof of the trunk and rattles. Going to zip tie and see what happens, try that out and see what you think as well

I've never had the homelink mirror but my JDM rimless mirror does the same jiggly thing, I think it's probably normal cuz racecar!

This problem manifested during the 1st spring season but have since disappeared again after this 3rd winter season.

I reckon this BRZ is already put together a lot better than a VW.

lol hell yeah.

I replaced the stupid tri-lobe screw with a slightly over-sized screw. Worked like a charm, super tight and never gets loose.

Very very small rattle coming from the back seat. Possibly the rear seat belts, or I didn't close the fold down back seats all the way yesterday. Can only hear it when the HVAC and radio is off. Its tiny, but is the first potential rattle.

The engine from the outside sounds odd for a boxer. It almost makes a pulsating squeaking noise, like a pulley is making sound, but I cant locate it. Prolly already broke it, from my hard break in

edit: 350ish miles btw. Just for a reference I already had found about 10 issues with my Legacy at this point. I have problems....
I had a small rattle in the trunk area. It went away. The transmission can sound a little clunky sometimes, and the engine can sound different at idle, etc.

I am assuming this is your first sports car. I use a different metric with sports cars than luxury cars. They supposed to be a little noisy. Using that metric, the BRZ is pretty sophisticated and refined for a sports cars. It has better manners than my WRX.
