Will post up results as soon as I get home, shooting for 16 PSI.
I just picked mine up with a similar config yesterday. ID1000s, new MAP sensor. We're going to switch back to stock injectors since we couldn't get the ID1000s dialed in. Does he want you to stick to the 1000s or try stock injectors first?

I mentioned that I had 1000s and he didn't mention anything but I will definitely be bringing the 550s along now!

I'd bring stock as well, I think he was able to get 350+ whp on E85 (dynojet).

Incredible.... I am an average Joe and was able to dial my ID 1000's down (by myself) in four tune changes with one night James explaining me what needed to be done and then a few questions here and there to HRI Tuning @jamesm....

I also find that extremely odd.

ID1000's are some of the easiest injectors to calibrate that you'll ever find.

Is there any technical reason why the 1000cc injectors would need to have a harsh start? I've always accepted this from past tunes...harsh starts until switching to DI. You can make it feel identical to stock?

They found the o2 sensor was trashed most likely due to the coolant from the headgasket failure. I'm going to swap that out this week before retuning when @DeliciousTuning flies up in 2 weeks. I'm not sure what impact that has on my start-ups right now. I have to FLOOR the throttle for a few seconds while it's cranking, then continue giving it gas until it's fully warmed.

@Sterz - let's see if they can get your ID1000s dialed in on Wednesday. Maybe it's all O2 sensor for me.

I've had a couple cars have hard cranking issues with the ID injectors, but then the rest behave perfectly normally. Typically they just take a few more cranks to turn over, doesn't effect the actual running of the engine once it's started. There been some success getting them to start on one crank by cutting the enrichment way down, which makes me think they're leaking fuel into the cylinder or something but I really don't know what's causing it.

But to answer your question no, if the injectors are calibrated properly the car should idle like normal regardless of temperature.

The failing O2 sensor was the biggest issue with attempting to dial in the fueling. With a wideband swinging 25% up and 25% down, I dont know any tuner in the world that will be able to get that dialed, Lol. With the lowered compression, larger turbo and 1000cc Bill estimated he needed approx 8 hours to get the car dialed in on the SD tune (with a properly functioning O2). We had no access to another O2 so late in the evening Friday/Saturday morning. So, we had to stop. Thankfully Bill is flying up to Mann and is tuning there the 25th, 26th and possibly 27th so you can get dialed in much closer to home.

Absolutely! I'm not directing the injector issue at Bill at all. All of the tunes I've had on the larger injectors (while the car was functioning ok to my knowledge) have been harsh. They'd start on the first attempt on 91, but have a very rough idle until switching to DI. I'm booked for the 25th with Bill @ Mann to tune with the stock injectors. Mann wants $450 to swap the fuel injectors to stock, so I'm going to bug Bill for a map so I can swap the injectors myself before going to Mann.

$450 is steep to swap injectors. I charge $335.

I was just trying to explain about why there was in issue dialing in the injectors as I know how the interweb blows things WAY out of proportion. I guarentee from this thread/posts I will now have multiple questions about tuning 1000cc. I already had 1 call today from a customer who was already concerned about 1000cc due to mis-reading/not reading all the posts from this thread.

Like I said, no tuner can dial in injectors with an AFR sensor swinging 25% up and 25% down (full 50% swing) erratically. The ECM is reacting to false data.

Why do you charge $335 when it is a 1 to 2 hour job max?
