Suddenly, gas on ground while fueling!!

From the vent tube behind the right rear wheel. I figured the dreaded filler neck hose problem. Since it appears to take a bit to get really bad, I wasn't in a big hurry. Next fueling gas started coming out of the filler neck onto the forking paint!! Panic!!

Made an appoint at a repair place where one of the techs had owned an FRS...

First inspected fuel filler neck and fuel hose per customer info and common issues found on the internet. So pulled filler neck hose and boroscoped hose to check for delamination or clogging. None found at this time. Smoke tested evap system to check for any major clogging and there was none found. There is some flow coming out of the canister vent tube. But smoke testing does not replicate the volume of air or fluid being moved by filling the vehicle with gasoline. So pull the hose off of the canister vent filter and blue through it with more air and it flows just fine. Blew back into the canister vent valve to check for flow there and there is a very restricted flow in that direction. Also sucked air through the canister vent valve to checked for flow in that direction and there was also a large restriction. While sucking air through that direction two stink bugs came out of the leak detection pump which the canister vent valve is located in. There seems to be some sort of large restriction inside the leak detection pump which maybe dirt or a stink bug infestation that is causing restricted airflow. Leak detection pump and evap canister would need to be removed to either clean out or replace. Both the EVAP canister and LDP are located above the rear subframe and the labor time for replacing them is 6.6 hours due to needing how to remove the rear subframe.

Stink Bugs!?! I don't need no Steeken Stink Bugs!!

Since it was late Friday there was no way to get parts or work done so I cruise home. I start cogitating... Get home, remove rear right wheel, yank away the housing, grab shop vac and slide vent tube into hose end, seal with tape, pop gas tank cap and let'er rip for a minute. Put everything back together, cruise to Ye Olde Filling Station, and fill up with No Problem!!

Don't know if it's a permanent fix, but if I get a gas filling problem again, I try the vacuum hose approach before anything else.

Might try some skeeter netting on the vent outlet where the bugs are getting it on.
