I had pole position on my sti and they were very comfortable. Pole positions are xl size, so great for all size drivers. The fabric is little too soft in my opinion for a daily driver, you will get lot of wear and tear on the side support. If i had to do all over again, i would get pole position in leather trim or SPG in LX size.

+1. Completely supports my big round bottom. The smallest seat they make is the SPG, then the pole position and SPG XL run similar sizes. I have a 38" waist, so if you guys have anything similar, don't even contemplate SPG's or any Bride seat if I were you.

Had these in my s2000 and the side bolster is hard to maneuver in and out. The recaros have a smaller bolster.

The stock seats are "good enough" when it comes to a reclinable; if I replace the seat I'll go all the way and get a fixed-back, FIA-approved bucket. The seat that I really want is the SPG. I used to have one but I never installed it in anything. Perfectly sized for my scrawny self!

Recaro SR7:

Or Recaro Sportster CS:

I have a Profi SPG that I could put in there but I don't want a fixed seat in my daily; its a PITA to get in and out of all the time. That will remain in my MR2.

If you're main priority is shaving weight, then I would stick with the Pole Positions. Reason why I say that is because not only are they something like 15lbs each, but they're the least expensive from Recaro as well so you can spend the least amount of money on them, and concentrate on other lightweight items on the car as well.

Now I'm sure some guys who are reading this are thinking, well the least expensive Recaro is still a lot of money. Yes you are correct, BUT if you want the best of the best, this is it. I've seen some nasty nasty injuries from seats that are not tested. I've seen Ebay seats on the track before, with 4 point harnesses in particular, where he slammed into the wall. Because the seat wasn't designed properly, he had something happen to him call spinal compression, which is exactly as it sounds. Because the holes on the seat were too low on his shoulders, the harness he had on forced him downwards with such force, that his spine compressed. Luckily for him he rehabed properly and he's fine, but I've heard instances where if enough force is exerted to the spine, you can easily loose function of the lower half of your body, and that is the reason why I do not buy anything other than Recaro or something similar where this stuff has been tested, because I used to be the guy that bought the cheap seats.

Thanks & I agree...you cant go cheap on seats.

However, if money was not a concern, which are the best seats in terms of lightness? (Assuming safety is not compromised).

Thanks.

If money wasn't a concern, the Recaro Pro Race Hans Spa is listed as the lighest that I can remember, it's 9.9lbs each:

It's made from a lightweight Carbon/Kevlar mix. They are about $2800 a piece, retail. I don't think you'll find much less than that unless it's just a shell. I know Tecnocraft made some nasty looking seats for a few E46 M3's I've worked on which was 7lbs a piece:
