Like you, we think there are some interesting points of difference between BRZ and “the other one” – not least a five-star ANCAP rating for occupant safety.
Meanwhile, keep track of your car’s ETA - the cascading effect of changes to delivery ports , customers not opting for earlier delivery and the distribution of Dealer Demonstrators etc has resulted in earlier estimates in some States .

"Subaru’s fast-selling BRZ sports car has been voted the carsales People’s Choice Best Performance Car Under $100,000.

BRZ won the award in in conjunction with the Toyota 86 – both cars are made at Subaru’s Gunma factory near Tokyo.

People’s Choice Awards give the online audience for the multiple carsales network of automotive websites the chance to choose the most popular vehicles across 13 key categories.

Subaru’s initial allocation of 201 BRZs to the end of 2012 sold-out after just three hours of going “live” on the web in July.

The initial list of potential People’s Choice cars was carefully chosen by a team of automotive journalists and key contributors to motoring.com.au, carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au and redbook.com.au.

The combined carsales team drives hundreds of new cars each year and chose what they believe are the best of the new car crop.

In many cases the choices were based on multiple drives of several variants of each car in each category.

motoring.com.au also had the opportunity, in a number of categories, to drive the best cars back-to-back.

The categories also take account of Redbook data including price, size, passenger capacity and other category specific factors.
BRZ has a National Driveaway Price* starting at $37,150, and includes a three-year/60,000 kilometre scheduled service plan** and a five-star ANCAP occupant safety rating.

Mechanically identical cars. One has been tested and received 5 stars. The other has not been tested so it's death trap :/

Reckon most journos are tipping the 86/BRZ to scoop up all the COTY awards for 2012 on the planet ! Totally agree with Motorings over 100K award, the GTR is king !

i dunno, the GTR has a rubbish ride quality, a clunky gearbox,...i vote the M3 is a better buy.

I'm a big fan of BMW but the GTR will eat the M3 in pretty much every situation that matters on the racetrack and it's probably still a liveable car day to day. I will never forget Fred Gibsons GTR's in the early 90's & what they did to racing in this country. Godzilla lives !
