8AR-FTS in an 86?
Trying to figure out if the 8AR-FTS (that's in the IS200T) would be a good fit for an 86 swap. All the pics I see of it seem to show it with a FWD setup, but the IS200T is a RWD. Too big/expensive I would imagine, although a Toyota-sourced turbo system would be sweet.

I'm more interested in seeing the GS version of the 2GR-FKS fitted into this car. Probably will run into the same clearance issues that the 2GR-FSE had, though.

The new 2GRs have great potential but not being able to tune the ECU is a problem Lotus has proven you can run a 2GR at 7500rpm just fine, and now the FKS might actually be able to make power up there with some light modification. |

Little necro bump here, but I forsee that 8AR being a popular swap in 8-10 years in many older RWD cars.
The AE86 included. As always though, there are usually expensive differences between the FWD and RWD versions of engines when it comes to dropping it into a different chassis, so better hope Lexus sells a lot of IS verisons! They probably will; its a fairly good looking car, and its the cheapest Lexus you can get if I'm not mistaken. |

Toms racing and a company in australia both did the 2GR swap out of the GS350. They require custom intake manifolds

They'll probably require about the same amount of work though. |

Why? Just buy a Jackson Racing, HKS or Edelbrock supercharger. Way better decision.
