Which Markets have "GT86" and "Toyota" badges on trunk?

For some strange reason I was under the impression that all GT86 models had the "GT86" and "TOYOTA" badges on the left and right side of the rear deck lid. I asked my dad to pick up exterior badges for me while in Japan this week, and he told me that the following (as explained to him by the Toyota dealer in Nagoya):

Japanese models of the GT86 only have the front and rear "T" badges, and that there are three variants of the Piston fender badges available through the dealership (All Silver, Silver and Red, Silver and Black), but that they do not have the other badges on the trunk on the Japanese models.

So my question is: Which cars have the Black/Silver Pistons, Red/Silver Pistons, or Full Silver Pistons? Also which markets have the additional trunk badges?

Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the car is simply called the "Toyota 86" in Japan so that probably explains the badge situation on their cars.

All Toyota models outside of the US are considered a Toyota 86. The GT is a trim. So the GT version will have the GT86 badge in what ever market.

only partially true, as most european marked only get the GT86, you cant buy a 86 over here.

However, while being on a Toyota Race Track event in September, with mainly Swiss and Belgium Spec GT86 Cars, I've noticed some of them had the GT86 Emblem at the rear, and some have not. Not sure if it also depends on the time of delivery. Seems to me that all "demo" cars that have been delivered to the dealerships have not the GT86 Badge, but the normal retail cars do. But again, this is just a guess.

Yep, I think I was actually pretty off base/wrong looking through my weaksauce google skills.

It seems like markets outside of the JDM have more badging. I think it's only the GT86 Ltd that gets the badge in Japan. But I haven't gotten confirmation.

With all the badge confusion, it's more reason to leave it a Scion FR-S.

With this car, I feel like you can really put what ever badge that you want on it and there's not a "wrong" badge.

I've got Subaru, STi, SAA, Toyota and TRD parts on my car. When Tom's, Modellista, TTE, etc puts out a part that I like, I'll bolt that one up to.

I have even considered using the TRD buckets. For me this is the allure of having a hybrid model between two (or 3) brands. The aftermarket is explosive and hopefully won't let up.

I just know that Toyota Japan/Asia has it as "Toyota 86", European Toyota has it as "Toyota GT86", and North America has it as the "Scion FR-S"...

All the other "GT-S, GT, Limited, and etc" are just the trim models.

So to answer one of your questions; only the European "GT86" has the model emblem stuck behind their trunk, and obviously the Scion has the "FR-S".

For the piston badge colouring... I'm not too sure, but I thought it was just red for JDM/EDM Toyota and black for USDM Scion.

I only can confirm that Swiss, German and Belgium GT86 have the red framed piston emblems. My guess is this is true aswell for the rest of the euro spec, at least for western europe.

The 86 range here in NZ seems to be as follows:

The 86 at the local dealer has all silver piston logo on the sides.
They seem to just say Toyota and have an 86 logo on the back, although the 86 logo is sometimes missing.

My GT86 has a red framed piston logo on the side, and says Toyota GT86 on the back.

The trim levels in NZ seem to be very similar to Japan. 86 comes specd almost the same as JDM 86. Our GT86 is somewhat in the middle between the 86 GT and the 86 GT Limited JDM.

Thanks for the info. I was surprised to hear they offer all silver, Silver/black, and silver/ red at the dealer in Japan. I am glad my dad thought the red looked the best as he purchased it without knowing I already have silver/ black.
