I had halogens so I am curious as well. The cutoff is amazing on these.

I believe the light output quality will be more than halogen, but less than HIDs. Watch the video:

Keep in mind that video is discussing retrofitting bulbs into OEM housings. that does not necessarily apply to the XB morimoto LED system.

Did you mean to be quoting me or him?

In case you did mean to be quoting me, the LEDs will not out perform the HIDs. This is a common complaint among high end cars like with the optional LED headlights on the Porsche 911; sure, they look unique, but the HIDs will have better illumination and penetration. Don't believe me? Here is a quote from TRS to a reply in the comments of their Youtube video:

Quote:
Charles Lin ...Hey TRS, how's the light output compare to say D2S 4.0 with CBI bulb. Roughly speaking... Because the website says ~2600lm for the LED, and ~3400lm for the HID bulb.

TheRetrofitSource Inc ...The D2S 4.0 with CBI would be the performance winner here

The Morimotos and FT86SF headlights have a single LED projector, unlike the Intecs. I don’t know if this was because Intecs had a high and low beam that was separate, or perhaps it was a dual setup to get the light output to meet or exceed HIDs, and maybe that is what Porsche does. Regardless, the video demonstrates that at 10 feet the LEDs average better, and they also disperse light brighter in his driving video, but they probably scatter light more like HIDs in a reflector housing. You get that impression from the comments below, and that also matches the data from TRS’ video, that LEDs don’t have the same focused penetration for down road visibility.

Finally got around to installing mine, wired everything up and it works fine. However, just came across the DRL Harness, and a bit confused if it is needed and where to add the connection in the fuse box...

Any insight? - Thanks

Not sure about a harness but for my Spec-D headlights DRL I tapped into the fuse box so they're always on.

For anyone wondering, the light output on these is amazing. I had the FRS with base model headlights retrofitted with HIDs. The light output on these Morimotos is still better. cant speak for the OEM BRZ headlights tho. LEDs have come a long way....

Also, Mr. Eye asked about the high beam cover moving on bumpy roads. I don't think this is the case. My wife was driving ahead of me and told me my driver side headlight was flashing. After a bit of investigating, I don't believe the headlight is moving or flashing at all, it is simply just pointed too high so every bump I hit makes the bright low beam look like a strobe light. This is evident by looking at the front of the car with the headlights on while the car is parked and then lowering your head until you are looking directly at the beam. You can easily see how bumps on the road would make it seem like the headlight is flashing if you are going in and out of the direct beam.

I think the solution is to just adjust the headlights which I have not done yet and will try to do this weekend. It is pointed too high. Had one guy flash his lights at me prob because he thought my brights were on when they were not.

Quality Projectors make a world of difference even with crappy bulbs. I got into them when I was modifying motorcycles. I dropped some HIDs into some aftermarket halogen head lights and it was so bad. I did a morimoto projector upgrade and reminded again why it is worth it.

Headlight adjustment is the #1 factor on why people complain about bright, blinding lights these days.

I love ChrisFix's automotive videos and used his headlight video to aim my headlights here:

Went behind a grocery store where no one was around, drove up to the wall and marked the tape. Then I drove back 25 ft using a tape measure and adjusted it down/L/R. Easy.
