My BRZ is here early... and I'm not ready!

My sales rep just called me this morning to let me know that my Galaxy Blue Silica BRZ Limited 6MT was sitting in the showroom. Kinda miffed that they didn't let me know sooner, but it is what it is. Anyhow, I just submitted a credit application, but I'm not ready to buy because I'm in the process of selling stock shares so it'll probably be another week. I'm hoping they'll keep the car locked so a bunch of people can't sit in it and potentially scuff/scratch something (I've seen it happen a few times - once had to repair a steering wheel on a showroom car because someone scratched it). I guess once my credit is approved the car is basically mine barring disaster, so assuming I get the good word, I should probably request that they at least keep very close tabs on it to ensure no harm is done. Coming from a sales perspective, I certainly want other people to see the car and want to buy their own, I just don't want mine to feel "handled" when I pick it up. I'll keep everyone updated with progress.

And yes, I'll be letting them drill the front bumper. I need a front plate and I don't like the look of the offset plate on this car. So deal with it!

*Proceeds to bite fingernails vigorously*

My friend who lives 5min. from the dealer took these pics for me! I'm stuck at work 'til close for the next 3 days so I won't get to see it 'til the weekend at best.

This is what I'm most scared of! I'm worried my BRZ will come in when I'm just getting settled in my new job and i won't have my desired down payment in yet

Good luck!

I'm in the opposite boat. Or, no-boat. Sold my car now I'm patiently sitting on my ass waiting for my BRZ to get here.

{Disclaimer} Just my opinion, and trying to give you an assist, so bear with me

Why not just leave the front plate off, if you don't like the offset? Are the police in your area that crazed that you will get pulled over?

I only say this because in my experience (3 years) running without a front plate (mind you, this is Ohio, not Mass.) I have received exactly ONE (1) warning. I still don't have a front plate after I got frustrated with alternate attempts to mount it, and the answer to the cop who gave me the warning: "Oh, the bracket I had it on rusted out and I was worried it was a danger if it fell off. I have a new one on order, but the front plate is in the trunk, if you need to see it."

The other thing to consider is how the paint will be affected by leaving the plate on. I unfortunately had my front bumper drilled on my tC before I realized they were going to, so I was fairly screwed (pun intended), and when I took it off to offset a year later, the paint had been scuffed under the plate and there was an after-image for some reason. It took a few detail jobs and some wax to finally get rid of it.

Bottom line, its your car, if you want to run the least risk and not buy an alternate mount, go for it. Its my opinion that its not necessary enough to run with a front plate to put two holes in a perfectly good front bumper.

I appreciate the advice, but they are much more strict about it here. My friend was pulled over in a parking lot for not having a front plate in his WRX. I get stopped about once a year for "speeding" (10-15 over, what a joke, but I digress) and there have been two instances when I wasn't running a front plate and got fined extra for it. So that being said I'll live with it.

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Drive safe and have fun, a couple holes in the front bumper won't compromise the car's ability to make you smile

Yeah I was pulled over once because my front license plate was covered in ice (it was like 10 below and we just had a storm the day before) and the cop told me he could not read the plate. So I had to get out of my car in the freezing cold and chip the ice off my front license plate. I was kinda pissed. So yeah, drill away at my front bumper too, because sometimes something as little as a license plate will get you pulled over.

Corey, I will volunteer to take possession of the car in your place and hold onto it for you. It will be in a good home for the time being. You will have less than 500 miles on it when you get it back.

Good luck on things, and I think the dealer (if a good one) would respect your request. Also, if I were you, why not ask if they can't rope it off? That way it can be displayed but not played? Dig?!

Oh man, that's the exact same color/trim I ordered, so jealous!

Congrats though, tell them to store it in their back lot or something.
