Solid gains, nice! No offense to Perrin, but I think this is a far better option then having to remove your bumper to service the air filter. Hopefully there will be an STI branded one soon.

Probably just the white balance or some other setting on the camera that took the picture.

For those saying tuning is going to remove the gain, that's not a worry. What these results demonstrate is that it flowed better than the stock box. That is what you want. The engine is a big pump. The more air you get flowing through it, the more power you can make. Tuning will make sure that the air/fuel mixture is correct and further improve the operation of the car. If you're going lean that demonstrates you are flowing more air in. Adding fuel with proper tuning is not going to remove the benefit of the additional air. This is a very solid choice for NA no matter who made it.
I'm not trying to say it doesn't flow better than the stock box but is inconclusive if based solely on a dyno that doesn't show af ratios.

I hope the gains are legitimately from an improved design and not maf manipulation. Even if it is from maf manipulation it still may be a good option for those who don't want a tune.

For those who say oem intakes don't mess with the maf sensor, check out the oem mazdaspeed3 intake they were selling through the dealers.

I can make a WOT run and log the A/F with Torque, would this help?

On another note, what was the point in moving my thread? Having a legitimate piece of info in its own thread with a proper title that is easily searchable (given it was the first post) makes a LOT more sense than jamming it into the end of a wishy washy thread that is all over the place. Reducing the thread number by one isn't worth the hassle imo..

I think it's because you posted in the wrong section.

Was Mazda's intake CARB-approved and does it maintain factory warranty?

This. Then when moved, why have two threads? Consolidate into one master thread. This one has two dynos. One with A/F and one without A/F, but with baseline.

I'm not sure if it was or not.

Might be helpful if the dynos are added to the op.

Doesn't the dyno with the baseline show a significant bump in torque at the first torque peak prior to the sag? This seems like an indication of the af ratio being manipulated because most gains in an intake due to volumetric efficiency occur higher in the power band.

It's a big open box with a big ass filter in it and no electronics. It isn't manipulating anything. This is nonsense.

I would say that of anyone TRD would be the most conscious of designing an intake to work properly with the stock MAF sensor.

If I read Perrin's tech articles correctly, the way companies manipulate the MAF is by using a larger or smaller than stock MAF housing. If OP could measure the MAF housings on both, this will answer your question.
