Bored Engineer Build #1: 2017 860

After a few years of creeping but never posting, decided to do a dedicated build thread for each car.

Between my GF and I, we currently have 5 twins:

2017 860 (Solar Orange)
2016 RS 2.0
2015 RS 1.0
2014 Hot lava (Supercharged)
2013 Series 10
2013 Hot lava (gone but not forgotten)

I'll do a seperate build thread for each, but this one will concentrate on the 860.

I first saw the new 86 when on travel to Japan last year, and the GF and I both decided we wanted one. In Japan we also saw print for the "solar edition" 86, which ended up being released here as the 860. Alas, as soon as the dealer banks opened, we ended up ordering one

We were able to get the car with 7 miles on it with a dealer trade. First time I saw the car:

First day home, parked in the garage next to the 1.0:

Got bored on day 1 so I threw on the old wheels from the supercharged car:

End of week 1, purchased an all red of Valentis. The 860 taillights are going on the series 10.

Bonus shot: Hot lava vs Solar Orange

Next step will be exhaust (MRT will be prototyping their 2017 exhaust on this car), big brakes (STI or WRX 4 pots), new wheels (Most likely mag blue ZE40's), and TRD lowering springs. Otherwise this car will stay pretty stock.

Neat to see the 860 color vs lava in the last pic. I have to ask though, why 5?

Those wheels and the new Valenti tails on that color look really good. Are you going to keep the racing stripes?

Just wondering, any reason for owning five of the same car at once? Not judging, my family has two haha

For now yes. They're the biggest issue for me with the 860 as I am NOT a racing stripe kind of person, but I also feel slightly bad peeling them off. I may pick up a set from Toyota to keep around in case I someday decide to sell the car and just peel them off. I think the car would look 1000% better without them.

So it kind of started as a fluke lol. I originally had my 2013 that was my company car, but I wanted to mod it. I started looking and kind of randomly found the 2014 from another Engineer so I bought that.

Then the series 10 popped up and it was the only one assigned to the company, so I bought it for the "collector's value".

Well then not long after the GF sold off her MR2 turbo and wanted a fun car... so she bought her 1.0.

I couldnt let her have the newest car in the family... so I bought the 2.0 lol.

Long term each car will be built differently:

Hot lava car: Stay as is with the vortech.
Series 10: Currently planning a JZ swap and shooting for 700+.
1.0: GF's daily. She loved TRD so it'll becoming a rolling sculpture of the entire TRD Japan parts catalogue.
2.0: Plan is to make "the perfect daily FR-S", so intercooled innovate, quiet exhaust, e85, but retain all creature comforts of the 2.0.
860: Basically will stay stock other than getting the parts necessary to make it into a Solar Orange edition copy.

Haha that was the original intent for that car; clearly changed. That one is the only "non perfect" car in our collection so its going to have to be the nuttiest one
