I just hear everyone saying 'not in stock'. I don't run Hankooks because of the availability issues in general. I drive on the tires daily and constantly hit nails, broken glass, used syringes in downtown Detroit...I can't risk needing a tire that is on galactic back order when a big event is coming up.

Since we are very limited on front camber and the RS3 sidewall is so soft, what's the widest you would go to keep the shoulders from wearing too fast?
I was thinking about going with the 235/45 RS3's but I'm worried the shoulders will wear prematurely. For that size tire, should I just get Z2SS? 235/40 would be nice but it's so expensive! |

You guys are overthinking it. The 235/45 Hankooks are fine; I ran them all year with great results because I need the extra gearing for my region's faster course designs. I'd buy them again or 215 or 225 or 245 if they were out of stock because the difference is quite negligible.
I'll get plenty of seat time on the new Star Specs, so I'm curious to see if I'll like them. I'm waiting until mid-August before I buy tires to see how everyone is doing on all the other brands. I'll let everyone else be the guinea pigs. I just wish my Yokohamas were still eligible, but I'll just run SM until I pick a brand this year. |

The only problem with a plan of buying in August is the possibility that the tire you want will be out of stock then. It happens pretty frequently. Not sure yet which ones I will choose.
On a related note, I am about to look at a local set of used RPF1 wheels, and the seller says they are 17x7, but he isn't 100% sure. To those of you who have these wheels: is the size listed on a decal inside the wheel, or is it molded into the wheel somewhere? Thanks in advance! |

I think I would rather go with a 225/45 than a 235/45 since I plan to do some track days and SCCA time trials.
I'm afraid a 235/45 RS3 would with hardly any negative camber would get a ton of rollover and premature tire wear. |

Okay guys, looking for some advice on datalogging. I know... it has been covered in the past on this thread but actually compiling all of those random posts in the hay stack is a challenge to say the least.
So, I have a budget of about $1k (less would be better). My baseline pick right now would be Solostorm for software because I love what it can do and being able to view and compare videos between runs will be great for me. If I go with Solostorm, I was thinking about just picking up everything Solostorm recommends (http://www.petreldata.com/product/so...repro-package/) because it would be easy, but it is also expensive. Does anyone run other, less expensive, loggers with Solostorm? On top of all of this, I need to buy a wifi GoPro because my current is not wifi. Thoughts? |
