With only 1/2 inch more diameter the 215/45R17 aren't going to be stretched any noticeable amount. I am running the OEM tires on 17x8 and they only look a tiny bit stretched.

I just purchased a set of Enkei, 17 X 7.5, GTC01's at Tire Discount. (see my wheels thread). I rely upon them to know what can and should be done. I am using the same OEM tires and was told that I can, when replacing the OEM tires then go to a larger tire size (width) if desired. Regarding wanting to stay stock, the Enkei wheels have the same + 48 offset.

The tires stretching does not affect the circumference of the tire. The belts in the tire don't stretch. It changes the diameter by life .4-1.3% for every inch stretches or something

Sorry if the rest of the world defines SQUARE tire setup differently than you decided to do in your head. Width, offset, ET, radius, diameter are also words that you don't get to make up definitions for either.

http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=square+tire+setup

It means 4 sides, same size. LIKE A SQUARE.

What you are trying to ask is "What tires should I run on my 8.5 and 9.5 wheels with no stretch" which is what the guy above answered. Don't be a **** or you'll just get it returned.

Will 18x9.5 +40 fitted with 235/40 rub in the front? Ken Gushi's personal FR-S has this setup, I'm wondering what was involved to make it fit

To give you a visual of how much camber you gain with crash bolts on the front suspension, here are some before/after shots. I didn't actually use crash bolts, I just pulled the OEM upper bolt out enough that the larger shank was out.

First 2 pics are before, next 2 are after the camber bolt adjustment. Spring is compressed to stock height both times for proper reference.

End result is that it will fit with the crash bolt installed.
Lowering springs should add a bit more camber that will also help for clearance. (ProKit on the way)

Slick,

I too am looking at 18x9 with a offset of e35.

http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=6330

According to the fitament calculator this gives to a clearance of -4mm front and -11mm rear. I was going to use the H&R spacers in 3mm and 10mm to create a -1mm flush finished product. But looking at your pics, the 18x9 in e35 ends up with a ton of poke or am I just looking at it wrong? The calculator with my desired setup tells me that I should be perfectly flush.

Long story short, I have been back and forth on my wheel choices over and over and just when i think I have it figured out I see something that makes me change my mind...

Is it possible that the Wheels are stamped wrong or build wrong, or is this what I can expect from a 18x9 e35 wheel on my frs? HELP?!

Added Info: Im thinking 245/35/18s for tires and droping the car 1.4" with the H&R springs.

wouldn't circumference change if diameter changes though?

Hey ilpad,
When are you looking to buy your wheels?

I will have mine back with tires mounted in a few days, same size too 245/35R18 in a Conti Extreme Contact DW.

As for fitment, I was pretty surprised when I initially test-fitted the wheels, not so much because of the fitment calculator but because there seems to be many others running with this wheel width (both in 17 and 18") and a +35 offset.

The camber/crash bolt makes a difference and so will springs as well. The H&R's should give you more camber than the ProKit I am going with.

It's hard to judge where it will all end up, but I think I'll be okay which is why I ordered the 245s after the test-fitting.

How will these work; 18x9.5 +22 front, 18x10.5 +22 rear? I've seen a few close to it that have worked, I think there was one with a +24 and a +20 that fits, so I was curious. I'm planning on running a widebody and the Vortech supercharger, so they do have a bit more of an application than just show, but will I be running any negative camber? Or should it be fairly level? I may just end up going with the +24/+20 offsets.

Also, any suggestions on tires? I think a 265/35 on the front and a 285/35 on the rear would work?

You should have no issues making that fit.

Are you planning on running staggered wheels but square tires just so that the rears are flush?

If so, I highly recommend just buying 17x8.5" +42 for all four corners and adding spacers on the rear if necessary. At least this way you can still rotate your wheel/tires from front to rear to minimize wear.

That's a TON of poke. I think you'll clear the strut f/r, but the fender (stock) will be an issue once lowered. If you modify the fenders for a widebody you'll get more clearance.

Tire sizes are appropriate for those wheel widths.

Camber won't be effected until you start dropping. You want a little negative camber in the back... 1-2 degrees depending on use.

Alright, thank you. I don't really have any plans to drop, but if I do, it'd probably be no more than .5 - 1 inch. Just as long as I clear it at stock height, all will be good. Thank you very much.
