No, that is the opposite of my point. G-wagens, wranglers, land cruisers, etc. can be off road beasts. Some people actually use them for that but most just want the image that they could.

Land Rovers aren't that anymore, and as that image fades away their desirability will too. You need that small percentage of authentic buyers for the posers to latch on to, and they left rover years ago. Its the same trap that is hurting BMW's mystique.

For example, Mustangs and Camaros. If there were no V8, I guarantee you that the i4s wouldn't sell very well.

So wait are you saying that land rovers are no longer capable off road? When did this happen?

Exactly. And eventually wouldn't sell enough volume to exist at all. That is what is happening to the whole Land Rover brand.

The original Discovery was the last one I can think of, and even they were too expensive and unreliable to be popular. I mean, I'm sure they are still better than most crossovers, but that isn't saying much.

So basically you have no clue what you’re talking about, seems right for an Internet forum spout nonsense like you’re an expert.

Lol way too many, more mall crawlers on 37's then I know rock crawlers on 37s, most I know still run 33's or smaller, though sw CT isn't the land of hardcore rock crawling. What gets me when you look at these new factory rigs is the rim size and sidewall. I guarantee you I wouldn't run lower profile tires over any nasty terrain, but then again Land Rover knows more about it than me for sure. Definitely wouldn't want to pay for them though, that I do know

I would happily buy another one and I have no worries taking mine on the trail now, but according to you I’ll get stuck in a grassy field.

Plainly not what I said, but you do you man. People just wanting to be different is why Volvo and Aston still exist. Maybe LR found its niche with evomike.

Aston and Volvo exist for people to be different? You don’t have a clue of what you’re talking about.

Personal experience. My oldest son came home with one once. I thought, "all of those stories have to be exaggerations.". I was wrong it was a nightmare car. Almost $ 7k in the first 6 months. Then we walk out the door one day and the electronic suspension system computer took a dump and the rear end was 4 feet off the ground. Cheapest fix was remove all and put in regular spring/shock conversion. More money.

Then, about 2 months later, the car couldn't even stand its own shittyness, and committed suicide. Luckily it happened on a 35 mph road, and not the highway. Something snapped in the front end, and the car instantly turned and rolled. Son was ok with some bumps and bruises.

The CFO of my wife's last co. She worked for bought a top of the line one for about $85k, and after 3 years just wanted someone to get it out of his driveway. His stories are typical of rover owners.

A gal I worked with drove her's thru a 1' puddle and the electrionic controlled transmission took a shit. Stuck.

I could go on. They are shit and should be avoided.
