DIY - BRZ Boomerangs - Brighter, Better

Nope. They don't directly shine out. Diffused by the acrylic tube. We've opened up over 8 pairs for Houston 86. They are bright but doesn't throw glare out like improper hid setups.

I'd be more concerned with jacked up f150s with hids in their halogen housings while lifted

DIY - BRZ Boomerangs - Brighter, Better

It's really hard to capture them on photo. It's definitely something you have to see in person

Me and Beebe were the first ones to do it in Houston. We've learned not to look directly at the smd while testing

This would help a lot to the noobs out there if there was a YouTube diy video. I was also wondering If anyone had condensation problems after baking and pulling it apart and sealing it again does it always seal air tight?

A video would be difficult due to all the steps required. This DIY is as on point as you can get. If you're skeptical, don't do it.

Furthermore, I have opened up my fair share of BRZ & FRS headlights (35+ pairs and counting), and not a single one of them has had condensation issues after re-assembly. Also, let me note that I didn't have to add additional sealant either, since they already have plenty supplied from the factory.

PS- I just did another one of these installs on a local BRZ within 4hrs a few weeks back. So all in all, if you have the right TOOLS you can get this done easily in a day.

That makes this man far more of an authority on headlights than I.

Good to hear Beebs.

Stop making me blush @Acree, if it wasn't for your excellent initial write-up, I highly doubt this would be as popular of a mod as it's become. Thanks again man!

I just did a buddies. My second set now. Total time was about 3 hours. And that was with me letting the epoxy for the heat sinks to set for an hour before reassembling. Its actually really easy and fast to mod. Takes longer and harder to bake the lights and disassemble/reassemble than the solder work.

One trick I used was yo use a dremel with a small grinding tool for the traces. That allowed me to cut the necessary traces in 5 secs vs before I used a exacto and scraped/scored them which took a few minutes.

Next time I do a set I will take some better pics of the board cutting, as the pics here are not very good and hard to understand where to cut.

Biggest advice here I would say is to take your time, and use a meter to double check the connections and board cuts to ensure proper trace cutting.

Alright, I FINALLY decided to do this but I have one question. In step 5, where you score the traces, on the drivers side the image shows only 1 trace being cut (red line) next to the blue wire. The passenger side image shows 2 cuts, the one next to the blue wire and one on the other side of the LED near the mounting hole.

These are two identical, separate circuits (no connection between them). Why the difference in the number of traces cut?

Because the board layouts are not identical.
